client plugin hangs MP (1 Viewer)

The TVservice should be set to automatic from the instal (I prefer to set to manual on some machines so that I can still use the standard MP without clashes at boot)

Have you run SetUpTv.exe from C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server to set/save the logon to SQL and access the TV server management console.

The console needn't be open for the service to run but it makes checking what is happening a little easier.

Are you running a server/client on ONE pc or server- client on seperate pc's.

i think the WIKI is missing some setup/config information.
it doesn't mention (as far as i can see) having to use "setuptv.exe"

also.. there is no information at all in the "usage" section of the wiki.

i managed to get it to stream over VLC, very good stream, no break ups etc.

i did manage to get it to connect on the client MP once as well... but the TV was almost non-existant.

no audio, black screen, even though a succesful connection was made to the server.

At the moment wiki updates are probably on hold as the server/client code settles, I would have thought.

I am using the 11469 svn's for both MP and TVserver which are working well apart from the following:

EPG data grab is non existant.
There is no LCN info still and no scramble info for TOTV channels.

Apart from that the sever client connection is the best so far.

Do ensure you uninstal previous TVSERVER and client from the original instal setup and choose remove before you instal any new TV server SVN

just tried it again on another system.

getting exact same results... no audio/black screen.

am i missing something obvious here ?

svn and server are both build 11469

it is connecting to the server as the channe list is ordered the way it is on the server config.

have managed to get it running now (not sure what i did different from previous attempts)

a few things i have noticed

good things
1) channel zapping is much faster
2) tv streams option is very usefull

bad things
1) when i close MP client.. the tvserver service seems to stop. which means i have to manually re-start it before loading MP again
2) channel order... even though i re-orderded them in the server config, the client still uses the original scan order
3) i notice that the "edit channel" options seems to have less options than full MP.. ie not able to change video/audio PCR/PID settings.
4) epg doesn't populate

overall though, as a beta, quite nice

just to add to this thread.

the original issue of the plugin hanging MP on load is now resolved in the latest builds.

so this thread has served it's purpose now.
