Yes absolutely true, but mpeg2 isn't really a problem for the cpu anymore. And it just looks a lot sharper if you upscale to 1920 as if you use powerdvd codec alone. For h264 video or tv i wouldn't use this combination. I also upscale divx videos. I tried a lot of codec combinations in the last 5 years. In my opinion this combinatio gives the sharpest picture for SD TV.

Could you make an export of your ffdshow settings and attach the file here? Can i select postprocessing for mpeg2 and h.264 seperately?

Yes i will do that, but not until weekend because i am not at home at the moment.
Ans yes you can define different profiles and you can restrict the upscaling to a particular source resolution e.g.
everything under 720 p or 1024x someting should be upscaled. There a lot of different websites whree you can inform you about the different settings.

Yeah, you're right, sorry for delay
Here you got my ffdshow settings file for upscaling to 1920x(something)
with sharpening effect. There are a lot more and better settings but they take a lot more cpu power, you can play this game until a quad core cpu gives up. So this setting is my favorite for quality / processing power

OK thanks a lot. So you select PowerDVD as MPEG2 Codec and then add ffdshow video filter to postprocessing?
