Compilation albums dont work right in My Music (1 Viewer)

There is no separate sort for albumartist.
For both the artist and albumartist tag the sort should be set to artist.
The actually used sort is derived from the tag that is specified in the view.
This means that the view you are using should work fine, maybe you can give a bit more info about what goes wrong.

I am sugesting that we NEED to have a seperate sort for Album Artist.....as this would help many people..

I.E a Compliation album...

would have TAGS :-

AlbumArtist = Various Artists

Artist = Different artist per track....

I really need this...

I understand that if I retag and add "band tag" then the default view for albumartists should work perfectly... is this the case..

Also PLEASE can somebody post the original config screen for Album Artist view..

If your music is in MP3 or M4A format you indeed need to use the 'BAND' tag.
When you change tags you have to rescan your music collection.

Please read this thread for more information.
It is a little outdated but it shows the default albumartist view and tells how to return to it.

YES Fixed...!!!

Media Poratal Recognises "band" tag as you suggested...and not "album artist"

1. So used "Godfather" .:: The GodFather ::.to auto update "band Tag" from artist for solo artists..

2. For compiltion albums....be care ful and DO NOT do this, as you will end up lots of individual albums by each track artist... So just set Band tag to Various Artists for these...

3. Re import Library.

4. switch to album artist.....

Perfect!!!



Album artist works perfectly now!!

i.e.

Adventures beyond the Ultraworld - orb = is filed in "O" Orb

And Compilation albums are in "V" Various Artists...


So HAPPY!!
