Don't know if this works on multiseat setups, maybe someone else could chime in with their findings regarding this.

Yes it works in multiseat setup, if clients are not using rtsp.
Read this post to disable rtsp.
You must also map the ACTION_NEXT_CHAPTER and ACTION_PREV_CHAPTER on your keyboard/remote, because the standard F7 and F8 keys are used for channel change in TVPlugin. I changed the BIG_STEP keys (up and down) to use the chapter skip.

Fan bloody tastic! Turning off rtsp makes a massive difference to playback and changing channels but also now means I can comskip on a multi seat setup!!! My next chapter button on my remote works as well!

One question though:

Do you always have to press the next chapter option? Or should it just auto skip the adverts when you're playing back?

Swiss buster,
I attached the script, its not very tidy and was just knocked up for my specific use. But maybe u can adapt it.
You'll need mencoder, and comskip.
if you want to use it to update the TV database on multiseat (which it does do), then you need to set the recording folder in the tv service config to the full network path, eg: \\server\recordings_folder
It also setup to update the fortherecord db, you could just comment that out if you dont use it.

If you have any q's on it, start another thread, or pm me.

Oh, and rename it from being a txt file back to vbs. had to change it to an allowed filetype
and change the mencoder.txt to .bat and place it in your mencoder dir

Im having problems getting comskip to work (im trying on a H.264 file with the donators version of comskip). I manually processed the recording with comskip and it has generated a edl file and txt file. i have tried to remap the skip buttons to perform the action next_chapter but i still cant skip commercials, and it wont auto skip. I am using IR server suite with a MCE remote.

In GB-PVR the timeline would look different for the areas of the recording that it thought were commercials, does mediaportal do this? is there anyway to view the 'chapters' mediaportal has imported from the txt/edl file?

thanks
chris
