I've been struggling to get TV working for a week now

Problem: When I start MyTV and turn on TV / select channel, the message "Connection to TV Service lost" comes up. The 2nd time I try to select a channel the messages (MyTV is very slow now): "Unable to start timeshifting. No free card available".

It did work the day before yesterday. I've already installed MSLoopback Device as advised in an other thread.

Preview function in the TV Server configuration works perfect. FireDVBViewer (witch comes with the tunercard) works as well.

I've tried going back to previous restore points and install MP all over again. Searched the MP forum etc.

What to do next???? All help will be very much appreciated!

Before I got it to work I actually had to reinstall Vista. The do the setup from scratch including the MS Loopback Adapter.

Thanks, but I already did this. I started all over with a clean image of Vista. It worked for a while, but after installing Deamon and configuring Moving Pictures, the error was back again

Er is geprobeerd een socketbewerking uit te voeren op een onbereikbaar netwerk 192.168.3.1:31456

The network is refusing the connection, now why, firewall\Antivirus, add the port to mediaportal and tvserver in windows firewall exceptions, that should definitely take care of the stupid firewall (do not disable, as known to keep working anyway).

Any antivirus\antispyware, make sure they are set to ignore MP\TVServer and any recording directories.

Double check your recording\timeshifting folders, D:\ not good as route of drive, D:\Recording should be fine.

    First, thanks for your advise!

I'm using ESET Smart Security for firewall\Antivirus. I found the place where I can it to ignore MP\TVServer and recording directories.

How should I add the port to mediaportal and tvserver in windows firewall exceptions? I'm not familiar with network settings ... Is "31456" the port?

    Yes.

So you have windows firewall disabled and are using the eset one, that may be the issue, as I said, Windows own firewall can be notorious at not being disabled when the user selects that option and remains active in the background, also does not always notify of programs requesting internet access, just blocks them

Ok, I'll stop yousing ESET for Firewall and will enable Windows firewall. In Windows Firewall I found the the way to add a port.

    Time to test ...

    Still not working

I did a clean install of MP 1.0 final, removed Eset firewall and opened the port in Windows Firewall. I worked for a couple of hours, but the again the message in MyTV: lost connection to server and second time selecting a channel: no free card available.

(Preview in TV server configuration is working fine)

I have attached new log files. In the log files I can't find the message line about the port any more.

    What to do?

Same thing happens to me. Whenever the WLAN loses connection. In the old versions of MediaPortal it would reconnect to the TV server... No idea why that was ever removed.

This occurs so often that I've setup 2 hotkeys on my Remote. One that restarts the TV Server and one that closes mediaportal and starts it again. After I do this everything work until it happends again, normally within 24 hours...

I really hope this is fixed at some point.

This also occurs without the Lost connection to TV Server message and just directly returns no free card available.
