Great to hear that you are well on the case & thanks for appreciating the idea.

I can understand your need to have the current status anywhere in the app, even if on the iPhone there may not always be enough space to display it. At least the iPad has enough screen real estate to show what is going on. As you said iPad layout will be the issue after the GMA part, did you already have some ideas? I think an inspiration from the twitter app with the tuggable panels is a great way to use the space.

Yes, thought about the twitter app style panels, too. I am working with a designer on some ideas, I hope that will lead to a layout. But nothing yet :)

    Hi Shukuyen,
I'm very pleased to say I have finally stumbled across my connection problem. I don't think anyone else has come across this but I'll post it anyway just in case some comes across the same issue in the future.

The problem was the AVG Firewall. Once the firewall is disabled the App would connect everytime. All I've done is disable AVG Firewall and enable the windows firewall. However I've come across another issue. When I use pause or stop the screen goes blank and I can't get the picture back unless I start pressing buttons on the Media Center remote. I can press play on the couchpotato app and the audio will resume but no picture.

    Any Idea's??

    Many Thanks

    Hi Shukuyen,

My iphone is back from the workshop, and have tested version 1.2 for while know, so time for my view about it! :)

This app is getting better and better, and like to see that! Gestures are working like a charm now.. Very nice job! There are a lot of different gestures now, so it takes some time to learn them, but after a couple of days, you didn't have to think about it anymore.. So, It is in my system know.. ;)

    Still a few problems:

-The info button still only appears with tv series, and music, and still not for movingpictures!
-Since a few days, the gestures are react a bit slowly. In remote few it's fast as normal. Have reset the router, and do some other things, but it is still a bit slow.. Normally it reacts very fast, and now it takes halve a second to do the action after doing the gesture.. It's a bit annoying! Any idea?
-I have said it before, but I like to see more that I can swipe up and down in live tv for chaning channels.. Swipe with two fingers left and right is the worst gesture availible, for one of the actions I doing the most. The action that is now configured to swipe up and down with one finger, is an option I never use.. because the same action can be done with swiping right and lfet with one finger..
-I also like to see a gesture to show up the OSD in live tv and when playing a movie! (maybe a long tap with two fingers?)
-For the volume; Is there maybe a way to program the volum buttons of the idevice to control the volum of mediaportal?

thanks for the umpteenth time for this great app! :D

Good to hear it's working now! Never thought it could be the firewall because it worked sometimes. I don't see a reason why something should be firewalled after some time.

Does the screen always and immediately go black when pressing stop? Does this also happen, if you press stop directly after starting a video? Maybe you have some sort of energy saving settings (screensaver, monitor power off) enabled that kick in after a certain amount of time?

Yes that's a problem with WifiRemote (http://code.google.com/p/wifiremote/issues/detail?id=61): For some reason the movie is not found in moving pictures database. I am still working on that, sorry.

Pressing the remote button and doing a gesture will end up in the same method call. So I guess gesture detection is slow for some reason.
Can you please restart the device to see if it's a memory issue?

Will see if I put that in as an option. Still not that satisfied with this solution ...

    Sounds good.

No, the app would get rejected by Apple (happened in other cases before) as you are not allowed to repurpose the hardware buttons :-( I could make it that both the device volume and MediaPortals volume would be changed but I don't want to risk getting kicked out of the app store.

Status update: Refactoring the socket part is working so far and I think it was a good decision. Still have to touch many parts of the app to really benefit from this but it's a start. The problem is that this is a really big and scary change and I will have to do a lot of testing to make sure everything works normally :)

I have done 2 times a hard rest (keep holding the home and powerbutton) and the problem with slow gestures is solved! So thanks for the tip.. Everything is fast as normal! :)
