I had the same problem, try just ignoring the error (don't close it just move it to the side) You will be abel to continue the setup.
The problem apparently only exists with non english windows' (there might be a hardcoded path to "program files" somewere). After the initial setup is completet all works fine.
I tried to install av older version of Mediaportal and then removed it without deleting the whole map. Then i installed the new version in the same map and it worked fine.
I got the same crash issue when I installed 0.2.1.0. Couldn't reinstall an older version either, same crash occured all the time. Tried skipping the configration without scanning for channels, but then there was no Autotune option in the settings. I managed to fix it after hours of uninstalling/installing/removing and so on...
What I did was uninstall MP completely and deleting the MP folder and everything in it. Then I removed .NET (don't know if it had anything to do with it) and reinstalled it. After rebooting I uninstalled the drivers for my TV-card (Terratec 2400i DT).
Another reboot and after all this I reinstalled the drivers for my card rebooted, installed MP 0.2.0.0 and updated i to 0.2.0.4 and configured. Autoscan works during the First-Time setup and everything is configured and running properly.
Remains to be seen if I have the courage to try and install 0.2.1.0. Or maybe I just should implement the golden rule "If it works, don't touch it". ;-)
Well, I also have problems installing and using MediaPortal
The installer crash in the same way as described by others in this thread, therefore I won't add any more info about that.
What I notice is that every one of us in this thread seams to be using the AMD64 processor (me included)
Can this be a hint of how to solve this problem?
MediaPortal seams to be a nice program, so I hate not being able to use it

Hi I'm also getting the error during instalation. I have cheked the supported tuner card and it's n the list.
I get the error already after page 3.... :-(
I have tryed everything, Do anybody know if there is someoe working on a possible solution to this problem?
I have a Hauppauge HVR-3000 With anolog/DVB-T/DVB-S and radio tuner.
I really look forwoard to get the chance to work with Medial portal.
I installed MP 0.2 configured that and copied the MediaPortal.XML file to the install of 0.2.10 - That way I did not have to run the configurator wizard again
