After giving up on the Nebula software (no Vista support) I thought I'd try Media Portal. I've installed it with as a Server and Client (so I can watch TV on my Laptop) It connects to the server, and I can select a channel, but approx 5 seconds after playback starts Media Portal (on the client) errors out with
-----
Faulting application MediaPortal.exe, version 0.0.0.0, time stamp 0x4606b9e6, faulting module Mpeg2DecFilter.ax, version 1.0.0.3, time stamp 0x4411e82c, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0000e4a9, process id 0x894, application start time 0x01c76fee1c9d415e.

It runs perfectly on the "server"

the exact steps are

start media portal
select my tv
select groups
select appropriate group
select channel

log as attached

Try different mpeg filters on the client for TV

Change to DSCALER or another you may have installed and see if you have the same error.

    Same here

    Hi,

I get the same, client bugs out with the message about mpeg3decfilter.ax, when watching timeshifted recording.
Have changed MPEG2 decoders from the Microsoft one shipped with Vista, to MPV/MPA to Dscaler. Same thing happens.

I'm using wireless, but I don't think its that. Its fine if tvserver isn't recording.
the server is in access point mode and no other wireless devices are connected.

BTW TVServer on XP Pro SP2, Client on Vista Home Premium, both using same SVN 14010
Also, can't get VLC/mplayer to connect to the stream, even with both firewalls down, which is odd because the MPClient can????(firewalls up or down)
If I restart MPClient after a crash, and go into MP-Streams, I get 2 listings, one against scheduler1, and one against the name of the laptop. there is a red REC icon in the 1st line.

Also, after crashing, Vistas taskbar disappears, leaving only the start button.

    You guys rock!! ;P
