    Thanks for another great release!

I haven't had a chance to test this yet, but I note from the fixed issue 333 "Sorting by date in the GUI will now sort by the date a movie was added to your system (file creation date) rather than the date it was added to Moving Pictures. ". Did this end up becoming a switchable checkbox? Movies I get are often from old sources or extracted from archives, and their date modified stamp does NOT change when copied to my system (maybe this is a Mac thing?). So unless the video file itself was made that same day, the movie will not appear at the top of my newest movies list.

Case in point, I am staring at an AVI created in 2007 that I only got today. I assume this will appear way down my list of 'latest additions'?

    Cheers!

Currently there is no checkbox, we were working under the (perhaps mistaken?) assumption that the file creation date would be suitable for everyone. If a checkbox is important to you, create an issue on the bug tracker for it and we will look at implementing it in a future release. To be honest though unless there is just a whole lot of demand this will probably go into 0.8. We are really trying to get 0.7 stable right now so we can move onto new features, so we are pretty reluctant to add any new enhancements from here on out. Add an issue though, and we will see how popular the request is.

Personally I would rather a old 2007 movie that I have added to be down the list. In saying that but, Sutekh, you can just change the file date and it should move up the top if you need it up there.

Thanks fforde for this release, great work to you & the team :D

EDIT : After updating to 0.7.1 ... I loaded the config to make sure the movies were alright, then loaded MP and went to Moving Pictures... It crashed straight away, here is the log.

EDIT 2: After re-loading MP, now it lets me into the plugin. There are about 20 movies that are in order of date correctly, then after that, they are back to being in reverse alphabetical order :(

    Suggestions?

fforde, do you think its worth me posting any more info or even deleting the database & readding it ... with regards to the sort still not being 100% ?

EDIT : I am still getting crashes... how do you delete teh database so I can readd it all again and see if that fixes it?

EDIT2: I have removed the media sources and am adding all my movies now. I will let you know how I go.

FYI. In regards to something else Ive noticed... I am getting about 10 movies that are coming up blank in the drop down box. Some the space is better than others, but the actual drop down box when you select movies is blank. If you press refresh then the movie appears correctly... very odd. This has been happening in the last few versions, just never rememered to mention it.

Take3: This did not fix it... tehy are still in backwards alphabetical order after about 20 movies. The vast majority of my movies are all saying they were added on 17/1/2009... Maybe that was my last re-install ? Shouldnt they now say the date of the file creation ?

    Suggestions please..

I will look at this tomorrow, but in the future Spaldo please either create a new thread for a bug report or post it directly to Google Code...

    Alright thanks...

Sure, I will try and remember to do that.

Do you have any suggestions about the date sorting issue, is there a better way to delete the database but not the backdrops ?

I had to delete the database to get mine working. Also I have problem to start up the plugin in a client if server MP is running. Database lockings, I guess.

How do you delete the DB properly ?
Go into the userfiles for Mediaportal, get into the database directory and select movingpictures.db3. Press delete.
Off course, creating a backup by renaming the file also works.
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal
    Vista will differ.
