Properly? I just deleted it in windows.

    yes... I am asking how..

If u are using Vista go to C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database folder and delete (or better move the file to another location just in case ) the "movingpicture.db3" file.

    For Windows XP the path is C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\database
folder (remember that u must have "show hidden files" setting enabled.

Yep, using Vista... cool.. I will try it later on and see if it fixes my date sorting problem!

    Thanks

EDIT : Well I deleted the database file as per the above posts and readded all my movies. It is still doing the same thing. About 20 movies are listed correctly... then the remainder are in reverse alphabetical order.

Lets hope fforde comes up with a few ideas :)

    UPDATE

This thread was really for 2 issues... the crashes and also the date sorting issue.

fforde is currently working on a build to address the crash issue and I have worked out why my date was not being sorted correctly.

The new build of Moving Pictures grabs the date from the 'date created' field in windows for the movies. The problem with this is that the 'date created' is actually when the file was made/copied, so if you have a really old file and move it to a directory, then the 'date created' is when you copied it.

However, the 'date modified' is actually when the file was made. I know this doesn't sound right or make sense, but this is how Windows has made the file system.

What I did, was get a program that can mass modify files and I changed all my files so that the 'date modified' was turned into the 'date created' and then it fixed my date issue.

I think consideration should be given to making the date sorting by 'date modified' for the other people out there, but, that will be up to the dev team of Moving Pictures to see if my findings have merit...

Just had another crash using 0.7.1...

All I did was add a new movie to my movies folder, but, did not load the config first.

Here is a screen shot and also the logs. Please let me know what I can test fforde... Thanks.

I have the same problem like that. But in my case I figured out it's due to My TV Series viewed earlier. So I guess it's some sort of conflict between moving pictures and My TV Series. If I don't use my tv series at all or I use Moving Pictures first -> my tv series, back to -> Moving Pictures, everything works fine. But if I use tv series first then Moving Picutres, then there's the problem

If you have a client running with the plugin, then that is probably the problem. Server/client plugins will probably be the future for these plugins.

While running multi-seat setup will indeed cause unexpected behavior (and possible a crash), I an pretty sure there is something wrong here. Sorry I have let this sit for so long, I will try to take a look tomorrow evening.

Thanks, I also created an issue in the google section and linked it to this thread.

Let me know and if you want me to test anything..

Well this thread has not been very focused I think, a lot of different issues have been tossed around. Just to be clear, currently in TV-Series there is a crashing bug that can cause MediaPortal to shut down even when TV-Series is not on screen. This could be the source of some crashing problems. Also if you are using a mutli-seat setup with several instances of Moving Pictures running at the same time against the same database, this could cause unexpected behavior and a crash. This is just not a supported configuration right now.

But there was also an issue in Moving Pictures that would cause an occasional crash (usually shortly after opening the plug-in). If you think you are experiencing this issue and are willing to verify a fix with an experimental, build with limited testing, please send me a PM.

Will try out the version over the next few days.

I agree this thread has gone off track with a few different issues. But, the one you have been working on is the main thing :)
