Custom Data Grabber including Sky UK Channel/EPG Grabber (7 Viewers)

Hi there,

I had a few problems getting on with this grabber before but am absolutely determined to try and get it right this time.

I have read throught the instructions a number of times and am unsure how the "Sky UK Grabber" settings best fit in with the "DVB EPG Settings".

I would be really grateful if someone could just confirm the best setting for each of the following:

DVB EPG

Always try to fill holes - y/n
Always try to update existing entries - y/n
Enable CRC Check - y/n
Grab EPG whilst timeshifting/recording - y/n (if yes, number of minutes?)
Grab EPG whilst idling - y/n (if yes, number of minutes?)

Sky Grabber

Enabled - y/n
Every - number of hours?

Another thing that I meant to ask is how this plugin works with freeview channels (I have both DVB-T and DVB-S cards) - does the option for "Update/Add New Channels" only work with satellite cards or will it search for new channels on the freeview frequenceis as well?

Just one other quick thing about the grabber checking for expired channels - how exactly does this option work?

As mentioned above, I have both freeview and freesat channels and shall be combining them wherever possible (making sure that I use the satellite version only for epg if it is blocked). What happens if I have a channel that is combined from both sources (for example Dave) and the custom grabber notices that the satellite version has stopped broadcasting? Will it delete both the freeview and freesat version or just the latter?

Hey, I don't think I do anything in the DVB-EPG settings. The plugin just does everything. I will take some screenshots of my settings for you when I get home.

I still think its waking up my system all the time though even when its set to only check at a specific time each day.. but thats another matter

@DJBlu does the current version work alongside 1.3 Final?

i have been using the plugin with 1.3 final code for a few days and cant seem to see any new issues as for the dvb-epg settings i also ignore that section as the grabber does the work instead.

I am going to take the plunge and use DJBlu's grabber. I am about to upgrade to 1.3 final.

I have been using Miroslav's EPG grabber for a couple of years as I like the series link feature, however, as Miroslav hasn't updated the thread about his grabber for some time and I don't know if his grabber will work with 1.3 I may as well use DJBlu's as it is really well supported.

Please forgive me if I come back with some real stupid questions...

i was having tv server issues and someone pointed me in the direction of trying a database repair, maybe this will help you and cant hurt to try it

Hi,

I did a successful upgrade to 1.3 final on the TV Server and all clients.

I then decided to install the Data Grabber. I read the instructions on page 2 several times, all seemed straight forward and then installed the latest versions of the grabber from the first page.

When trying to install the TVserver part I get the dialog box popping saying "failed to upgrade the database". Tried several times, even after rebooting but still the same dialog box. When I try to access TV Server config I get the same dialog box popping up.

When upgrading to 1.3 Final I had to run a script in My SQL Workbench as the install failed to update the tv channels table - maybe this is linked.

I got these two same errors also (yes I did stop the TV service when installing).
I did try running MP anyways and it seems to work ok, I get all my SKY channels and TV works............however, can't access the TV Server Config.
PS. I came from 1.2.0

Is there a fix?

Is data grabber even updated to 1.3 final? I usually wait for the all clear from djblu before updating

Try a database repair as well in case it's been corrupted
