Custom Data Grabber including Sky UK Channel/EPG Grabber (8 Viewers)

Hi All,

Im having some really frustrating problems as of late from recording issues, to no signal, unable to timeshift issues. Can someone take a quick look at the logs and see if EPG related? if not then let me know so i can move to the relevant place.

Hi,

I did a successful upgrade to 1.3 final on the TV Server and all clients.

I then decided to install the Data Grabber. I read the instructions on page 2 several times, all seemed straight forward and then installed the latest versions of the grabber from the first page.

When trying to install the TVserver part I get the dialog box popping saying "failed to upgrade the database". Tried several times, even after rebooting but still the same dialog box. When I try to access TV Server config I get the same dialog box popping up.

When upgrading to 1.3 Final I had to run a script in My SQL Workbench as the install failed to update the tv channels table - maybe this is linked.

the version on page 1 is the release candidate version and djblu has not had time to release the updated files for 1.3.0 final and that will be why you are getting the message cant update the database. If you know how to build and merge from github you can merge djblu branch and compile your self or wait until he has chance to release. Ive merged and all works fine so far.

@JoeF Hi Joe, sorry for delay in responding. As I read it, you tried ITV2 at about 5 to midnight, it tried to tune but came back with this

"2013-03-14 23:56:39.423124 [(5)]: dvb: LockedInOnSignal could not lock onto channel - no signal or bad signal"

After this you tried tuning to BBC1 N West and again, MP retrieved the tuning details, but couldn't tune due to the same problem of no signal or bad signal. In my experience bad signals can throw up all sorts of weird errors. Look at your cabling, connectors, LNB - could it be due to the rain, I'm just up the road from you and it was raining last night, this could be getting into your LNB connector. Your'e using the TBS6981, I had the 6980 and it was absolutely rock solid, so I doubt it could be the card.

I don't know how to build and merge from github, so I'll just have to wait for the proper version to be released.

This dish is a Communial dish on the roof which i have no access to Ive just got access to a wall plate in the living room. I did think it may be dish related and considered buying a mini dish. Its raining now however and all channels seem fine.

If you have an intermittent problem it would be very difficult to sort out, and your frustration would lead to MP being the culprit. Can you raise it with the management company who deals with the communal maintenance?

Yes, could give the company a call and explain the signal issues and see what they say/suggest.

Hi Porky,

I see you are giving DJ Blu's version a whirl for exactly the same reasons as me and as we have very similar setups, I shall report on here with any pointers that I come accross that might help.

I am going to give the custom grabber a go tonight and see how I get on with it.

One thing that does worry me is allowing the grabber to keep the channels in the same order as Sky does. I am used to customising my channel lists with Miroslav's version but am sure that I will get used to the channel ordering provided (all people that have Sky do!).

As far as combining Freeview and Freesat channels goes, I think I am going to have change tact in as far as doing this with DJ Blu's version.

Before, I used to bring up the list of Freeview Channels and combine them with any found on Freesat. To allow the grabber to keep track of my channels, will I not have to do this the opposite way to preserve the Freesat channel number rather than the Freeview one?

Just do people know I seem to have solved my issue it was down to a bad connection my end and with the wall plate which feeds the cable. Nothing at all to do with this plug in. Sorry for posting here just thought it might of been related.

I have just gone back to MP 1.3 final due to the database problems noted above, so just awaiting a 1.3 Final release. I have 6 days worth of EPG from Miroslav's grabber...

I think you can select what you want the grabber to do, if you don't want the Sky numbering you just don't tick that box. I just want the EPG, and want to keep my current channel arrangement where I have channel group named as 'Favourites' and all the channels we watch listed in that group.

If you check the changelogs, it's clear that barely anything changed between 1.3.0 RC and 1.3.0. I would just stay with 1.3.0 RC + Custom Data Grabber until a 1.3.0 version is uploaded - you're not missing anything.
