I can see what is going wrong with my 1.4.0, in that every 15 mins, the grabber kicks off again.
When it does, anything I'm recording gets messed up which creates freezes in my playback.
I can't see what to do to fix it though!

My error log is full of:
[2013-08-19 15:06:32,736] [Log ] [21 ] [ERROR] - Exception in Channel.Persist() with Message The property named displayName of class TvDatabase.Channel was null (not allowed here).

Thanks for the fast update - was about to go back to 1.3.0!

Currently testing this new version.
Couple of things:
1. It still seems to do a continuous loop of scanning for channels - in that after an update, it pauses for 10-20 mins then starts again. However, the menu option is set to every 3 hours.
2. My log is full of "Error writing to file G:\Timeshifting\Custom_1.ts: written 0 of expected 134 bytes" - I see the file created in the folder so it doesn't seem to be a permissions thing. Not sure if this is an issue or not though.

Now sitting on the sofa doing a "watch recorded tv" test. The latest patch still freezes every 10-20 mins, in line with when the grab kicked off automatically.

(I had disabled the webepg plugin for this, so can confirm that it has nothing to do with it)

I've done a clean MePo install - just leaving it running atm.

I've noticed something very odd though..

Ion Channel 4 HD when I do Shift 1, I have Rptd FPS : 50.00 but then I have Detd FPS : 12.257

Now that can't be right...

It does seem to be ok at the moment though - I'll leave it a while and see what happens.

EDIT :

Ok, I was using Intel QS and had Rptd FPS :50, Detd FPS: 12.257

Switched to DXVA2 (native) and now it is Rptd FPS : 25, Detd FPS : 50.00

I'm not sure what it should be! (Channel is Channel 4 HD)

Anyway, no glitches, and no freezes so far without the plugin installed.

Well I have no idea what I did differently, (other than using the latest grabber on the first post) but it is now working just great. No freezes, no stuttering.

I did a clean install, verified it was working, and then installed the plugin over the top and it's still fine.

I can't use Intel QS for some reason (always used to work fine in the past and was my usual choice), but DXVA2 is working fine.

Baffled, and petrified to touch anything now in case it breaks again!

Have you disabled the DVB-EPG grabber?

Should this be disabled? I always tick the Sky UK Grabber in Radio EPG grabbers. Does it need to be ticked or not?

Doesn't need to be ticked or enabled.

There is an issue with the TSWriter locking up when it's selected.

Disable when idle and timeshifting too.

DVB-EPG grabber was disabled.
Great - will test your new plugin tomorrow. I am going to be away for the week, so can remote in to do tests and review logs, but cannot check playback for stuttering.

I'm still getting an occasional freeze (nowhere near as bad as last night!), and every time it coincides with this in the log :-

Just an update - I have disabled the grabber under the schedule tab, and live tv is perfect now - no glitches, no freezes.

I suspect this is the same issue others have reported, although I never used to suffer from it so not sure why I am now!
