All sorted now. The GF just doesn't understand... do they ever?

Jeeez, I just wish I had not upgraded to Win 7 x 64 on Friday. This morning I got "MP will not start the side by side configuration...." and had to reinstall the svn package. I'm using a 32Gb SSD and on Win7 x86 I had about 9Gb spare, I now have about 900Mb - the pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys files are 7 & 8 Gb respectively!! It is a good job I work from home and have the time to put aside.

This morning I got "MP will not start the side by side configuration...." and had to reinstall the svn package.

I've had this error a few times.......and it was due to a config file being corrupted. No reason for the coruption, it "just happens". One time I simply shutdown MP and restarted (MP was fine at the time).

File = mediaportal.exe.config

Luckily I usually have a backup of these files and it's just a case of dropping it in. I have a batch file on my desktop to do so....

This is one of my complaints about MP.............It just isn't robust enough. File handling could do with a good makeover.

Hi Ian,

I have everything working fine now.

I have copied all the MP folders & files and put them on a seperate HDD. If I get this problem again then I can just copy the required files over from my back up copy.

(Also got my 8Gb Timeshift RAMDisk working too )

Well my tv.log seems to be processing the epg all the time.
The dedicated tvserver won't go to sleep.
Wonder what could be wrong in my setup.

Hi,
Does anyone else seem to have missing descriptions for some BBC4 & BBC3 programs. So tonight for instance the evening programs (Horizon, Symphony etc.) show up in my epg with no description (but they do have the title, and info on sub-titles etc). But then later on (after midnight), the same shows have the full description... Is this a fault with the epg data, is it just me, or could this be a bug with the grabber?

PS Running a clean install of the latest version, but I've seen this before on earlier versions...

Its the EPG Data m8.

I have the same here. I think what sky may be doing is refering to another programs description but I haven't looked into it.

well I guess that is good to know... I guess that it shows up more often on BBC3/BBC4 as those channels tend to repeat the same programs in the same 24 hour period a lot and so there is more opportunity to re-use the description. Not a big deal, but I guess if they start doing more of that sort of thing it may become a bigger issue...

I've got problems with Channel 4 HD - a few days ago it moved across to Astra 1N. DJBlu's pluging picked up this move fine to 11126500, but the channel fails with PMT not found issue. Its PMT PID is 0 in the channel settings.

My cards require the modulation for SD channels to be Not Set, but require it to be set for the HD channels. My usual solution is to try to delete the problem channel and do a manual scan but this fails to even find it! Ditto for manually changing the modulation to Not Set.

Has anyone else got any issues with this move?

Try this,

delete all channel4 hd channels.

Set the modulation in the settings of the plugin.

sd modulation not set.
leave the hd deselected.

Run a manual scan.
