The latest trial version of PowerDVD9 doesn't allow you to use it's H.264 decoder in other applications either.

That should cut down on the amount of downloads, will also stop people updating altogether from 7\8 to 9 :(

This is unfortunately wrong because last patch of powerdvd 8 has the same behaviour so don't update

For some reason, my shop boxed version did not suffer from that when updating, first saw the no h.264 codec with my online purchased 9 ultra

I think it will but you need to put everything (including dlls) in the video filter folder into system32 or Vista equiv and register the codecs manually. Obviously when the trial runs out you should uninstall;).

Nope, only the ax files are necessary.

Just copy the CLVsd.ax, CL264dec.ax and the CLNav.ax to a safe place from the cyberlink\powerdvd\filters folder.

These can be dropped into the system32 folder and then registered individually.

These files cannot be hosted or linked to here, as much as I would like to, I'm that annoyed with Cyberlink

Like everything, there are fixes\improvements in the codec's, there's nothing desperately must have as far as I have noticed between version 8 and 9, cannot comment about 7 as no longer have a copy.

Even the PDVD updates are mainly centred around the security keys for Blu-Ray

I can not locate the "CLNav.ax" file in my CyberLink\PowerDVD9\VideoFilter folder.

    I'm using PowerDVD9 Ultra Edition.

Might be under navigator folder, was doing this from memory :)

This file is not necessary, just gives you the PDVD9 navigator as option under dvd settings.

I'm not able to register the "cl264dec.ax" file in windows register. I've tried to run this file in regsvr.32, but with no luck (no "pop-up" confirmation screen). The other two files was registered without any problems.

    Anyone who can help me?

So I can use the filter from powerdvd8 by registering them manually and have powerdvd 9 installed for playing blue rays... that's a good solution I think.

    Will try...
