The parameters you need to set as Rows =1 and Columns = 16. You do not need to set any advanced options

The instructions in step 8 contain a type... "The Plugin will not" should have read "The plugin will now"... it has been fixed.

I always leaved default value as they seemed exact: my display has 16 colums and 2 row not 1...

But now I've tried with 1 row: in this way only one row of my VFD is used :( but I've done the test... just in case.

When I play the file it writes FullscreenVideo and then after a little of time the title of the file on the first row,
the second line is empty (I think this is right in this case as I've configured the display to have ONE row only).

I've done the test setting two rows and the result are the same of always Fullscreen Video on first row and nothing on the second.

The first test is not that unuseful however as now I'm sure that if I change the file using the configuration the change as reflected by Mediaportal behavior (or more correctly by your plugin) but it seems that the progressbar tag doesn't like it as you previously stated:

The tag is incorrect and the second line of the display data is never sent to the display driver... If the second line is not sent to the driver, the driver will never send the updated first line to the display.

But the xml file is created by the configuration... the plugin understand it really?
Or there is a microsophic error on it and the plugin doesn't accept it...

In the attachment you have 3 file 1 rows.log that is the first test with display configured with a row only, 2 Rows.log
the display with 2 rows and the configuration file (maybe is equal to one already posted... but is best to not have any doubt :D)

Thanks for your help,
fanoI

I don't know what is causing so many typos for me today... yes, it should be 16 columns by 2 rows... sorry 'bout that.

Yes.. the CybrDisplay.xml file is correct... and works here....

So... that leads to a need for extra debugging info....

I have attached a debug version of the plugin to this post for you to try... please install it, run MediaPortal, play a video, and post the mediaportal.log file.

Also, a few questions....

What version of MediaPortal are you running??? is it a recent SVN version, or have you had a recent SVN version installed?? (It doesn't appear to be... the main assembly timestamp indicates it is from july 2007... which would make it a 0.2.3 Release Candidate)

If it is a RC version, can you try a more recent version... The plugin is designed for the 0.2.3 release version (dated November 15,2007)

NOTE: THIS VERSION IS NOT FOR GENERAL RELEASE... IT IS A TEST VERSION FOR fanoI ONLY

I'm posting here my logs

Thank you for posting the logs.

Ok... The logs look ok... the driver is getting data from MediaPortal and it is sending it to the LCDHype driver for display...

So... I need to ask a few questions...

1) What version of the IRTrans software is installed?
2) What other software that drives the display, if any, is installed? (IE: what program is sending "Mediacenter" to the display)
3) Did you stop the other program, if any, before starting MediaPortal?

EDIT: After doing some research into the MCE303 case... I have a few additional questions...
4) Are you sue that the display is an IRTrans display??? The ahanix website does not list this case, but the software that is available for download is for a Matrix Orbital LK series display...
5) How is the display connected to the computer? USB? Serial port? Parallel port?

No need to excuse... at me always happens especially when I write in English that is not my native tongue :D

Yes.. the CybrDisplay.xml file is correct... and works here....

Mmm... so is something in my system that doesn't work well... I suspected this :(

So... that leads to a need for extra debugging info....

I have attached a debug version of the plugin to this post for you to try... please install it, run MediaPortal, play a video, and post the mediaportal.log file.

I'll try tonight after work (oh what a waste of time :D)!

Also, a few questions....

I've tried some 0.23 SVN version in my system but I had big problems with them: video files were black screen
So I'm returned to the non-svn version...

Seeing in my installed programs I see something strange: it seems I have 2 version of Mediaportal installed 0.23 and
0.23 RC1 together
Maybe something happened when uninstalled the svn version and they have leaved some traces corrupting my MP
installation :(

After the test of the debug version I try to install the last non-svn 0.23 version only maybe this solves my problems... if this doesn't work I will reinstall Windows (not only for this problem my system is pretty unstable!)

Tonight will be a long night no sleep :D :D :D

Wow you're fantastic a version only for me, really thanks for the work you're doing,

I can't use that excuse... English is my native tongue 8-}

oh what a waste of time :D)!

I know... these damn time zone differences are a real pain.... oh... you meant work!! That too 8-}

I've tried some 0.23 SVN version in my system but I had big problems with them

I suspect that the SVN version is a recent one... They have had problems where the #duration property would not be set, so whan converted to an integer would produce a result of zero, causing a division-by-zero error... The TextProgressBar code did not do any tests for this condition, and the line would not be processed... The changes in the version I built for you have these checks, along with some hard coded logging (which make it unsuitable for a general release) to determine if this is the problem.

Seeing in my installed programs I see something strange: it seems I have 2 version of Mediaportal installed 0.23 and 0.23 RC1 together

Your logs also indicate that you may have some problems with the DirectX filters that are installed on your machine. You may want to get a program called "filmerit" and run it to check for, and fix, those problems.

After the test of the debug version I try to install the last non-svn 0.23 version

Your logs indicate that you are using a version from the early 0.2.3 release candidate days.... You should probably uninstall all versions from your machine than reinstall the 0.2.3 release... (you should save a copy of your mediaportal.xml file and capturecards.xml file so that you don't have to completely reconfigure all your devices)

thanks for the work you're doing

Not a problem

I've tried your debug version with my Mediaportal "broken" installation... and attached the log...

I've then tried the 0.23 stable release uninstalling my 2 MP installtion... and as I remembered it's broken on my system... when I play a video no video only audio is played
And however the display continues to not work...

I've attached the two logs for you RC1.log is MP_0.23RC1 is of my bugged installation and MP_0.23 is of the new
installation.

Unfortunately... The logs confirmed my suspicions... Something is preventing the second line from being processed, but it does not seem to be for the reason I expected...

Could you please run configuration.exe, go into the plugin's configuration, click on configuration editor, then click on ok, exit MP configuration, and post the configuration.log.

Thanks
