Let's make this the end all be all thread for getting newfangled HD audio to playback properly in MP

I cannot for the life of me get this to work! I either get no audio at all or just the DTS 5.1 core. I know some people have said there is a magical combination of splitters, filters, and codec options that apparently works but I sure haven't found it. Does anyone have a clear guide on how to get DTS-MA/TrueHD to bitstream out of ffdshow?

My end goal is to get 7.1 out of either m2ts or mkv files in MediaPortal.

My setup:
Win7 x86
Asus P5N7A-VM with audio out over HDMI to an Onkyo receiver
MediaPortal 1.1.0 Final

Any help getting this going would be MUCH appreciated

Well as far as I know the Asus P5N7A-VM is not capable of bitstreaming HD audio. You will need a 5xxx series ATI videocard, An asus xonar, an Intel 55/57 chipset or one of the brand new Nvidia cards (460gtx i believe).

The only integrated motherboard solution right now is the Intel 55/57.

Well, that is total weaksauce! So there is no integrated graphics solution that can do it? What about sent across as PCM? I can't get that to work either.

The intel 55 and 57 chipset can do this. Im not sure how you passthrough PCM. I would ask in the SAF 5 Thread.

As above, clarkdale (i3/i5 with H55 chipset) is only onboard solution but Intel still seem to have issues with tearing on 23.976 material.

As for LPCM, this is OK for TrueHD but there is no decoder available for DTS-HD so best you can achieve there is DTS core

THere are lots of factors to make this work sadly. You can't just install the latest haali splitter for instance as this makes the video stutter like crazy for some reason.

A very quick howto for getting bd and mkv working in Mediaportal 1.1

See "my system" for my specs, works well here on most movies...

    Install MP 1.1

    Mediaportal
    Videos -> Videos extensions
Add m2ts and bdmv" as an extension in mediaportal.
(You should also add iso and img to this, but then you should install virtualclonedrive)

    Codec and Renderer
    Video Codecs:
MPeg-2 Video decoder: ffdshow Video Decoder
H.264 Video decoder: ffdshow DXVA video decoder
MPEg/AC3 audio decoder: ffdshow audio decoder
    Audio Renderer: Default DirectSound Device

    Install FFDSHOW
    Browse ffdshow Files on SourceForge.net
    download latest like: ffdshow_rev3517_20100731_clsid.exe

    ffdshow Audio:
    Mixer
Output speakers configuration: same as input

    output-> Passthrough
    check:
    Dolby Digital (Ac3)
    Dolby TrueHD
    Dolby Digital Plus
    DTS
    DTS HD

Output format for uncopressed or decoded streams
    check:
    16bit integer
    ac3 (s/pdif encode mode)

    Install Bluray handler
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...7/bluray-handler-0-9-3-beta-81068/index6.html
Unzip the archive and copy the DLL into the "Mediaportal/plugins/proces" folder

    Mediaportal:
    MPC-HC Standalone filters x86:
    ????????? ? ????????? | standalone_filters-svn2099_x86 - XvidVideo.RU

unpack and copy MatroskaSplitter.ax, MpegSplitter.ax and MPCVideoDec.ax to somewhere... (i usually put them in c:\windows\system32)

    register these
    regsvr32 MatroskaSplitter.ax
    regsvr32 MpegSplitter.ax
    regsvr32 MPCVideoDec.ax

dont install Haali matroska splitter, that will make your system stuttering...

Install anydvd if you have problems with copyright.. only for bd disc.. content that you have downloaded is usually clean from this shit..

Now you should be able to play bd with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-MA...
(With this setup you will be able to play almost everything)

Still... this is if you have the hardware to support it!
