Yes ive selected that, and have the IR Server suite installed - neither which respond to the controller. I think problem is still lye's with the drivers.

Did you run the install_xp.bat?
Does your devcom fail?

Hi Gorlist
Here is the MCE repacemet driver I use. (Extract it somewhere on your harddisk)
I reinstalled mine to see how I got it to work, gave me some trubbel, could not delete my ir-remoe driver, but here it is.
Uninstalll IR-server suite, to be abel to uninstall the ir-remote driver you have installed.
Delete the driver you have now. Reboot and when window wants to install the ir- receiver, point to the directory with the MCE-repacement driver and install,
(Windows will say it is not a windows driver, just continue anyway) then reboot.
Install the IR-server suite. (This time my remote did not work at all before installing IR-server suite don´t know why),
Start the IR-server-suite config to see if it has found the IR-receiver, Microsoft MCE must be marked.
Make sure the IR.server-suite is in the MP configuration/plugins and enabled.

In your system under your USB-conrolllers, there must be one called “MCE Infrared Remote control”.
Under mine driver-property mine says:
Driverproducent: MceIrApi
Data for driver: 25-02-2007
DriverVersion: 0.19.0.0
Digital signature: Not signed digital.

PS. I have made some changes in the mceir_xp.inf from the original.

Thank you nip.nyborg! :D its now working, however when I installed the driver from your package rar it insisted on using files from the vista_x86 directory. Anyhow its all working, thank you for taking time, really do appreciate it.

Hopefully anyone else with this remote will come across the topic.

(still takes a few attempts to get working, if the driver installs correctly it will prompt to reboot, if not select go through the different inf file.)

Hey guys!
Firstly I want to apologise for diging up old thread, but this is only one which is solving problems with RC197 remote in WXP.

nip.nyborg's guide is wonderful and everything works (even without any setup, briliant) - BUT after several clicks or minutes (I don't know which cames first) the remote control stops working:
1 - Red LED on OVU4120 still blinks when I press any button, so I presume it's not HW fault.
2 - IR Server Suite doesn't recieve any command, even in the Debug app.
Only reboot helps - but after after several clicks/minutes it stops working again.

I've already tried to disable turning USB devices off by computer to save energy (in Devices Manager), but doesn't help. Also I've tried all versions of WXP driver in MCE Modified drivers - still doesn't work.

My setup: MP 1.0.2, IR Server Suite Test Build 1.4.2.3064, WXP Pro SP3, RC197 remotes (one from OrigenAE, one from DELL, none of them works), OVU4120 reciever

So far I've made some progress:
I tried more IR Server Suite versions, none of them works correctly - so i presume that it's drivers fault.

And after few minutes of searching in IR SS logs I've found interesting thing in file MicrosoftMceTransceiver_DriverReplacement.log:
Code:
2009-08-25 11:37:15.546875 - System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: Zarízení pripojené k systému nefunguje
   v IRServer.Plugin.DriverReplacement.ReadThread() v c:\svnroot\mp-plugins\trunk\plugins\IR Server Suite\IR Server Suite\IR Server Plugins\Microsoft MCE Transceiver\DriverReplacement.cs:rádek 812
2009-08-25 11:37:15.546875 - Read Thread Ended
which means: Device connected to the system doesn't work

but as you can see, there is some wierd path in the error log, it doesn't even exist on my computer - so i presume that is wrong compiled driver and i have to find another one :(

Any Ideas?
