Let me know if I can be of any use (I can only use so much time on this, but I would like to help out).
We don't know what you can do for MP, since we don't know you well enough (yet ;-)?)

Only _you_ can decide what you can do for MP. Just take a look at MP and think about where you could help out, then just start with it and/or talk to the devs on IRC or through these forums) about your ideas to avoid that more people are working on the same thing.

Why I am not participating in the development in mp:

Not enough spare time at the moment, and I work as a developer so I stay away from the computer (apart from the htpc) when I am at home.

    Hi all developers,

We are interested to know how many MP users are out there that:

    1. Can develop (whatever language or level)
    2. Have thought about helping out

Have you thought about helping out ?

    If so what stoped you?
    If not why not ?

    Regards,

    /James
    1) I can code in SQL, VBscript, Classic ASP, Javascript, CSS, HTML (Can you tell where my world is  ).

    2) I have often thought about helping out, particularly with skins and such (i luv Photoshop), but I'd also like to help out with programming.

    3) My spare time is what stopped me. My job went buckwild this summer/fall and I've been doing alot of freelance work as well so my sparetime is down to zero. As winter rolls around my workload is lightening and I'd like to help out wherever possible.

Can anyone recommend good reading on C# and DirectX to get me started? I pick up programming languages fairly quickly and maybe by spring/summer I would be at a level where I could help. Books are preferred, but also good reference/tutorial websites are welcome too

    1. Have Msc in Computer Science so im fairly confident with most programming languages. Ive worked professionally with Java, where i also programmed some C++. Ive been looking for an excuse to learn more about C#.

    2. Yes, ive noticed some annoying bugs that seem to have simple causes and i really would like to help solve them.

    As to what stopped me:

    1. Time, im currently a Ph.D student, which means im very busy.
    2. I miss a single entry point website introducing everything needed for starting development with Media Portal. I feel that you have to hunt around too much to find this info. Finally what stopped me the last time was the the steps necessary to actually build from source. Basicly i would really like to just "jump in" and start working on the code, without wasting too much time on figuring out how to compile, where to get the code etc.
Still, im giving it a new try, just reinstalled VS.net and im going to have a look.

    In your head ...
    Ellow,

    C#, ASP.Net, PHP, ... developer
For my work I develop in C# all day, so I think I have a good C# knowledge.
Currently working on a MyCam plugin (DV firewire).

Would like to contribute, but as everyone else, time might be a prob.

Nice - well I think all have a problem with time - but they try their best.

What could you see yourself doing, besides the MyCam plugin ?

    ATSC

I'm interested in working on ATSC support. Can someone please point me to which parts of the code are used for ATSC? Or point me to the developers working in this area.

    Thanks!

Hi all, I am an experience software developer. Current programming activities are mainly in c# but I have alot of c++ assembler knowledge from the time I was interested in demo programming.

I am developing software for about 15 years now.

I have much knowledge about the .net framework, software factories, testdriven development.

I once were interested in directx but that is some releases ago.

I think I can be of much help in the overal quality of the codebase and in improving stability.
