AW: DigitalDevices Dual DVB-S2 Testing (CAM/DiSEqC)

i have a Digital Devices DuoFlex CT Dual DVB-C/DVB-T PCIe Card in my server (WHS 2011-RC) it works fine with MP 1.1.3. My provider is KabelBW.

It's faster with 1.2 beta, for not encrypted channels stresstest shows a average tune time of 0,6 sec. But some times i have a BSOD crash. With the KNC card also built in it not happens.

No i'm back to 1.1.3 not so fast but it works. I hope in the next release DD card is stable.

Hi SiggiK,
Try Setting the Card to "stop Graph" instead of "Pause Graph" in SetupTV.
Michael

:D I'll try it in the next week. First is the server recreate to WHS 2011 release.

    Hi everybody,

after my test marathon a few pages back, I still owe you my final results:

    Hard- and Software:
Digital Devices Duoflex CT (old PCIe-Bridge, no Octopus (LE))
    DD CI-Module
    Aphacrypt Classic
    Cable provider: Unitymedia (Hessen)
    DD-Driver Version: 2.1.2.39
    MP 1.2 beta
    Win 7 x64

    DD-Software:
    Both DVT-T tuners: disabled
    Both DVB-C tuners enabled
    Both DVB-C WMC tuners disabled
CI-Module assigned to both DVB-C tuners

    SetupTV / TVServers:
    Two DVB-C cards activated
The following settings are identical for both cards:
CAM enabled and present for this cards: checked
This card can decode x channels simultaneously: 1
    CAM model: default
Allow this card to be used for EPG grabbing: checked
Allow this card to be preloaded: checked
When card enters idle state do the following: stop card
    Preferred Network Provider: Generic

    Test Channels:
Number of concurrent virtual users (tunes): 2
    tune delay (mSec): 0
Each tune should last between (mSec) 500 - 1000
    Sync: checked
    Users share channels: unchecked
    Repeat until stop: checked
Group of fta channels (SD and HD) and scrambled channels (only SD)

    Results:
    Succeeded: 18.020
    Failes: 5
    Ignored: 0
    Avg mSec: 1.493
    1st fail: 11.457
    Disc.: 225
    Total: 18.025
    No freeze
    No crash
Test terminated manually as it was still running after a whole night of tuning - looks like a rock stable system!

    Analysis:
My freezes were caused by the older drivers of DD. If you have stability problems, use the 2.1.2.39 drivers from here: TV Karten Digital Devices - Digital Devices Distribution UG (haftungsbeschränkt) (I think it was this fix: "2 kleine Stabilitätsprobleme bei Micronas basierenden Karten gefixt")

The crashes were caused by non matching versions of SetupTV and the tvservice. A clean install of MP 1.2 beta works without problems.

I had some BSODs and system reboot when I set "pause card" in SetupTV. But I heard this is a known problem with the DD drivers. So please use "stop card" instead until DD do their homework and implement pause card in their drivers correctly ;)

If you use the settings above, you should have a rock stable system.
Thanks again Morpheus for all your work and help. It's really much appreciated!

    Michael

as for me, 2.1.2.39 also did the trick - no freezes anymore and no "no PMT found" erors after a while. I am using 1.2 post-Alpha (own SVN build) and since using this driver have no problem using pause mode. I tried 8.5k+ tunes (5 hours testing, 2 times) without any error, so i believe i will stay with this driver as it has no any side effect or bad behaviour for me.
P.S. I have Cine S2 v5.4, use only one tuner atm, no CI. Average switch time is 1.23 sec, but i got better results when switching on only one satellite (above results were calculated using group of channels from both satellites and monoblock directed to Astra 19.2/ Hotbird 13)

I have recently bought the DD Octopus, including 2 Duoflex S2 DVB-S2 tuner cards, and the CI module.
I am using the standard CIM and smartcard of my provider (TV Vlaanderen).
I tested the smartcard via a softcam solution and it worked, so I decided to move to hardware CAM solution that was reported working in MP.
I have been trying to get the system working with a variety of Mediaportal versions, all having the same result : when I enable the CI module via the DD tool, I can't find any channels during a scan ("Nothing found" on every transponder). When I disable the CI module, I can find channels, but not descramble them. Any channels found with the CI module disabled, can not be viewed (could not create graph) when I enable the CI module again.

    Windows 7 x64
DD driver version 2.1.2.39 (also tried with 2.1.2.33)
    Mediaportal versions 1.1.3 without and with above mentioned patch ;
    Mediaportal version 1.2.0 beta
Enabled CI module in DD tool and in Mediaportal.
I tried every conceivable combination mentioned in the posts above, all with exactly the same result.

CI menu is available and working in MP 1.2.0, not in 1.1.3 patched.

    CI module information :
    Manufacturer : SmarDTV
    Software version : Canal Digitaal 2.05.001 (02.05.01.00)
    Firmware Version 3.03.013
    Mediaguard version :
MG core library R L1.4.26 (10/04/08) (this seems a bit old, no ?)

I haven't found a way to update the software of the CIM. When I try it via the DD tool or via the CI menu in MP, nothing happens.

    Hi Phaedra
I have an Octopus LE but I have a Duoflex CT instead and I had the same CAM as you before, a SmartDTV Conax CAM, and I never got it to work. I bought a SMIT Conax instead, and it was working directly. I have heard that the SmartDTV CAM doesn't support "Multi Transponder Decrypt".

But with that CAM I have got a new problem. When my provider change the codes it stops working. DD know that and have put a "solution" on their supportpage that says :

"Provider awarded the keys to decode the encrypted channels of their offer expiration dates. Provider awarded the keys to decode the encrypted channels of their offer expiration dates. After a while, then the keys must be updated on the smart card. After a while, then the keys must be updated on the smart card. With some CAMs are here in a double tuner mode known problems. With some CAMs are here in a double tuner mode known problems. To solve this problem, assign only a single tuner to the CI. To solve this problem, assign only a single tuner to the CI. Then tune with the tuner an encrypted channel and wait until the keys have been updated. Then in tune with the tuner encrypted channel and wait until the keys have been updated. Then you can reassign all the tuners to the CI. Then you can reassign all the tuners to the CI.

(translated to English with Google Translate)"

You have to see the CI card menu in DD's config tool. Try to get it to work there before you start troubleshoot MP. If you not see the card menu in DD's tool you can't see it in MP either.

    Regards
    Nybbe

But how would you know my current CAM is CONAX ? In the module info I can't find anything by this name....
All it says is Mediaguard, and that is what my provider requires.....

I don't, but I think its the SmartDTV CAM who is the thief here. But I don't know for sure. Is it possible to try with another CAM?

Mediaguard is another way to decrypt channels, my provider uses Conax.
