DX is broken with ATI AGP cards and CATS 7.9 -7.11.

There is a hotfix on the ATI/AMD (search AGP HOTFIX) site but from what i have seen 8.1 doesn't have the problem.

    Hi Diehard

I'm not sure where i can get these logs from could you explain what i need to do or where about they are or called. I've previously used the diagnostic feature and this creates the lo.zip but i have noticed that now two or txt files are missing from these. I can only assume this i because MP doesn't load at all, so it can't even start the process of logging. If i were to copy the original mp.exe file back to the mp folder im sure it would create these files again. Would you like me to do this?

    Regards.

Thanks SciDoctor! I've been very anti ATI ever since i bought my first tv card. The ATI TV Wonder VE. The drivers really sucked, and then they lost my rebate. The only rebate I've never gotten. NVIDIA all the way for me.

Thanks SciDoctor, i'm downloading the 8.2 now, hopefully this is fix this issue. I shall report back and let you know.

SciDoctor - Thank you so much for the fix, this fixed the problem as soon as i had installed v8.1 and rebooted. :D

Diehard2 - Also a massive thank you for trying to resolve my issue, you have been a great help.

Can i ask a quick question...i have MP installed on a 64bit vista system and this is working very nicely after much configuration. Can i copy these settings over to this 32bit vista system to save time?

    Kind Regards
    Jacko

I had thid problem also: MP fails to autostart at system startup because of this dirctX issue, ATi gfx card.

    My solution:

    - remove CatalystControlCenter from the autostart entries of Windows, so it won´t start, MP will load without problems
    - CCC is not essential of correct gfx performance, it is only a configurational interface. You can set it up once and afterwards never load. If necessary, you can fire it up manually anytime.

    Hope this helps.

    I had this problem also
    - Disabled CCC.exe in autostart
    - Use a aeroDesign-background
    - use startup delay (MP Config/General/Startup Delay)

    solved my problem

    Hello,

the only thing that solve that problem for me, was to use a aeroDesign-background.
I dont want this background. Does anybody now an other workaround for me?

Disabled CCC.exe in autostart and use startup delay doesn't fix it.

    Bye Nu

    Hi,
using a HD 5450 via HDMI on Win XP plagued me with the same issue. Switching to a VGA cable (which leaves me without sound) allows me to start though.
A rough guess from me is that the TV is part of the cause. It reports only YCrB 4-4-4 and 2-2-2 modes and no rgb mode. Switching to the old 15 pin VGA cable means that the card doesn't have to care about the TVs bitdepth.
Btw. I worked myseld through the different hints: Reinstall directX 9 latest release (2010 something), remove CCC from startup (via registry), reinstall CCC, startup delay... Of course no aero - this has yet to be implemented into xp ;)
Adding a Win 7 licence would be quite an expense and I'd regret to be stuck with the same problem under Win7 or Vista.

    Any help will be appreaciated.
