I have Dish Network and am located in San Diego, CA. I just installed TVE3 SVN 15025 but I don't see where to setup the EPG for Dish Network. Please help.

Have you successfully scanned the channels?

If you have, The EPG grabber setup is in the TV Server Setup GUI under TV Channels>TV EPG Grabber. I have a checkmark beside WGN (channel 239)... this allows me to get the 9 day EPG. If you want to grab the 2 day EPG you'll have to do a little searching for the correct channel to grab it from. Clear out the checkmarks from all of the other boxes.

Once you do this, go down to Manual Control, click Refresh EPG, go have a beer... it takes a while.

Well... no I thought scanning for channels was only needed if your using analog cable. I have TVE2 running on another PC connected to a second STB via video s-video and I didn't have to scan for channels... theres is only an option for antenna/cable how do I scan for channels using satellite?

This thread is for folks with a dvb card who are pulling guide info from the stream... I believe you will need to do some research on zap2it epg client and serverblaster. I would try to help if I knew more. Good luck.

I never seem to have a problem with the order... This is what I usually do get all my channels in order. I do a full scan of 110 and 119. I then use gemx program to number the channels. In the TV server setup I then hit the name at the top and sort all the channels by their name. Because I am using numbers at that point, it puts them all in order. I then remove channels 539 and on. At this point, they should be in pretty good order. You will need to go through and remove some channels that have numbers of 19xxx. They seem to be left in there. I then import my perfect 63 channel analog list. This all comes in at the bottom so I need to sort again. I click on Types to sort them by analog and then dvb-s and then on name again. This gets most of the analog channels at the beginning. I will then need to go down and move channels 2, 3, 4, 6, 7 and 9 to the front of the list. 2 is under 20's and so on. Once that is done... My list is complete. I usually export out... so I don't have to do this again :)

Hope this helps.

Do you use the reorder function of gemx's program to sort or do it through TV3 setup? If setup, where exactly are you sorting by channel name? I've tried it everywhere I can find, but the channels in my guide still end up unsorted.
I can't use gemx's program because I'm using mysql. I wrote my own to rename, but I don't have reorder code.

I can't use gemx's program because I'm using mysql. I wrote my own to rename, but I don't have reorder code.

After renaming, try:

Stsrt TV3 setup program

>TV Channels (expand by clicking +)
>TV Groups
>"Mapping" Tab

I only have 1 group (All Channels)
I suspect you will have to change the drop down menu to modify each group you want to sort in the guide.

>Click on the "Name" title bar in the "channels in group" window.

This should re-sort the channels by name for you.

Hope this works... I use ms sql and I also used Gemx's sort program, but i was able to break my sort order and then fix it again using this method.

Cheers

Thanks for the info, that worked.

I sorted the mapping column but it did nothing. Then I moved a single channel up/down and voila, worked like a charm.
I never did modify the mapping order before (just sorted).
