I found this:
http://xmlstar.sourceforge.net/

It seems to work with the mediaportal.xml file.

Found this syntax working:

xml ed -u "/profile/section[@name='general']/entry[@name='startfullscreen']" -v yes mediaportal.xml > mp_test.xml

This will set the proporty to yes for the startfullscreen option.

thanks Callifo (and PJ for the weather). The settings pack worked just great. I think it makes things much easier to setup when you have a localisation pack like you have put together. (and while I'm on my first post, thanks to all the MP team for an awesome App!!! )

Cheers.

great, I've been looking for a util like that. Are you going to use it for the danish country pack?

Until a utility for "patching" a xml is found - yes.

Problems with this is that all entries must be edited one at a time (copying mediaportal everytime)

Also mediaportal.xml does not contain entries for weather, RSS etc. before you actually enables the plug-ins. (requirering the user to open the config and enable plug-ins before Country Pack installation.

I am working on using a real installation program to do the job, this enables a lot more features than a .bat file.

Once we start programming , wouldn't it be more conveniant to add things to the configuration program itself. It's open source after all!

that would mean:
- import button for rss-feeds on the rss-window;
- import button for channels on the channel edit window;
- picklist function on the weather page. (*)

(*) since the weather plugin would only need one URL per country I think the default installation of MP could contain a database with URL's for all countries, keeping this out of the country pack.

just my 2cts

I agree that theese imports should be available, but this will not automate the country specific changes.

If you are not sure what I mean, I've just finished the first BETA for the Danish Country Pack.

Steps for install of new MP installation:

Install Media Portal
run Media Portal Configuration and press [OK]
Install Danish Country Pack for Media Portal

Additional information is available in the start menu.

CAUTION: BETA SOFTWARE
Backup all your settings before installing.

Danish Country Pack for Media Portal 0.0.0.1
can be downloaded here:
http://mp.juniorsoft.dk/download/DK-CP-0.0.0.1.exe

NOTE: have only been tested with version 0.1.0.3!
An update will follow soon when it has been tested with 0.1.0.4.

shouldn't this be in the installer?

Surely the installer could ask what country and then either

copy files based on country i.e. install has diff versions of files per country and only copies the one relevant to your country

that's how we do this where I work ...
