I have switched to an Aero theme that just has a basic, non-changing background. Still giving a blip every 27-30 secs though.

Is ProcessExplorer part of win7? - looks useful. - EDIT now installed

I Googled Process explorer and installed it. After watching it for some time I have noticed that every time there are the regular frame drops, there is a large spike in CPU usage, and also a large spike in I/O throughput. Looking the various processes running and listed according to CPU usage the top two are "System Idle Process" and "MediaPortal.exe" (these are constantly swapping top place in the list). When there is a spike (dropped frames) the process named "mysqld.exe" jumps to the top of the CPU usage list. This is happening at the same time as the CPU spike and the I/O spike and it does this every time.

Clearly this is the MySQL Database - should it be causing this??

    Hi porky996t

I think we're at the point where logs are required... both for MP and for MySQL. Perhaps a process/plugin within MP is triggering requests to the DB every ~27 seconds...

    Hi there,

    Agree logs are needed.

You arent running iPimp? What plugins are you running?

    Any antivirus?

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the responses so far. I'll post logs a little later as two progs are just recording for the OH.

The plugins I have running are:-

    MY TV Series
    My Movies
Showtimes - (currently disabled due to MTSA failing)
    Online Videos
    Last FM
    IFC
Trailers (comes as part of Streamed MP)
    Google Calendar

I think that is it. Just running windows defender - no other antivirus on this. I don't run iPimp either.

Which logs are needed, and what setting should I have logging on?

    Cheers,

    M.

I'll disable it and see what happens.

EDIT: Disabled IFC (both parts in the plugins section) and this frame dropping seems to have stopped. Now that is great news!

Unfortunately I did think IFC was a great plugin too...
