my solution to "unable to create graph"

Just did a total reinstall of everything following a severe HW change - MB/CPU/RAM/GFX...
Using the same tuner - terratec 2400i and (again) i got the infamous "unable to create graph" when trying to tune TV channels... Looking for answers here, i found the file CaptureCardDefinitions.xml mentioned...
looked throught it and noticed this in the entry before my tuners:

</connections>
</tv>
</capturecard> -->

<capturecard commercialname="Terratec Cinergy 2400i DT Tuner 1"

and the --> wasnt in any of the others...
So i erased all entries to all cards except mine... not knowing what i was doing i also installed the tuner software that came with the tuner... And after that i could tune with no problem in MP.. (never got to try the supplied software) - TV works now... After this i uninstalled the tuner software supplied with the card - and still tv works...

dunno if this helps - but hey, give it a try: erase all entries except the one(s) regarding your own tuner...

I have the Leadtek Winfast DTV 2000 H, and i did the chenges in the hardware config file of Media Portal described here.
Now the message "unable to create graph..." still appears, but now i can scan for TV and radio channels, and all works fine.
After save changes and start MP, all TV channels i have found with DTV 2000 couldnt be displayed. Media Portal shows the message that there is not signal?? but during the channel search all channels found was working correctly.
When i close MP and open MP settings, and all channels found with DTV 2000 works fine!
???
i dont know what to do i have scanned TV channels(analog) few times and every time the channels was working ok in the settings of MP, after launching MP , the channels cannot be found or is replaced by digital channels from SkyStar 2 card.:confused:

Seems to me that dtv2000 h is piece of sh!t card (sorry for language but im really milimeters from throwing it literally). I got newest drivers, 3223 i think, and with winfast pvr software, analog works great BUT since recording volume is not working there is not audio on recording. There is audio while watching tv, though. With winfast pvr2, its nightmare, because card sometimes can not tune analog channels, and after pvr2 restart it works. Recording volume works, BUT there is no audio in recorded files. With MP 0.2.3 RC3 that I use, card can autotune analog channels, but at first video stuttered. So I installed supported mpeg encoders, intervideo mpeg encoder (comes with windvr 3 software) and mainconcept mpeg encoder. Video was kinda ok, still not "normal" as in pvr, where watching tv is working ok. So still little shutter. But of course no audio. I played with graphedit, and I cannot figure how to get audio working. I have realtek HD audio card (onboard), and in graphedit I can find realtek hd input and output. Since tv card is connected to cd_in connector on motherboard, I tried connecting crossbar audio decoder out to realtek hd input cd volume, but didnt work, in fact EVERYTHING else I Tried to connect audio decoder out to didnt work. So I am REALLY wondering how can audio work in winfast PVR and PVR2 and I can not get it to work with graphedit. Video worked in graphedit, but still not fluent, little shutter.
Maybe I'm wrong, but using dtv2000 h for analog is really impossible, as I believe given my experience with it.
Anyone that has analog part od dtv2000h working with MP please share your setup info, because I'm thinking of selling the card, since it doesnt work as it should.

and another funny thing is, windvr 3 is also some kind of tv viewer software as I see, because wizard started and it started scanning or something, and ofcourse, there was no audio, instead it was some boom boom boom sound every few seconds, like filters are trying to set audio or something

Well I stayed up almost all night, and got audio working fluently with MP. Video still looks pretty bad, its not 25FPS but looks like its trying to "accelerate" speeds up then stops then speeds then stops. Easily noticeable with scrolling text, it doesnt move but it stops every now and then. Its not cpu issue, cause cpu usage goes to 50% max, on athlon X2.

I have a similar problem. Since I got analog TV tuner on, which took me a lot of time ... video is little chopped...
For me audio works, as is, but the real problem for me video is late by the sound, think that one second minimum. Anyone have an idea what this should be? .... (FYI - I have procesor 3GHz, 1GB ram, integrated videocard and soundcard on board... )

today again I played with dtv2000h and discovered something. In graphedit, try the following graph:

tvtuner (video)> crossbar (video)
tvtuner (audio) > tv audio capture
tv audio capture > crossbar, pin 5
crossbar video decoder out > tv capture
tv capture > leadtek stream control
leadtek stream control > leadtek stream handler
leadtek stream handler and click out pin, render pin

using this graph I got 25FPS tv in graphedit, and its perfect, like in winfast pvr software. in case you see blue picture, first start pvr and tune some channel, close, then try this graph. I got perfect video and audio and in sync. I tried modifing card definitons to include this filters, and according to log it works, everything connects, but MP says unable to create graph when trying mytv.
I will post graphedit with my new graph later, since my htpc is not online and im too lazy to turn it on :D

If you get it to work from graphedit OK, it should work the same way from MP. I believe the common problem for the "Cannot create Graph" error is the carddefinition file. Everything you put there MUST match your card setup. You can use the graphedit to get the right moniker, all filter names have to be spelt correctly (including spaces and so on).
BTW the moniker from the graphedit is seen in the hardware manager for your card. What I noticed also the moniker as it shown in the graphedit doesn't really works when copied and pasted to the xml file. It has to be formated with some small additions (see the existing file for examples). It's a pitty the wiki guide for graphedit doesn't explain how the first line should be formatted. It is almost like trial and error excersize.

    Hi Crni

    This is a *really* old thread - it would have been better to start a new thread.
    According to this post you need to use the default Windows drivers rather than drivers provided by Leadtek/Winfast.
