MediaPortal Version: 0204
Windows Version: MCE SP2 RU2
CPU Type: P4 3.2G
HDD: 4 * 300G Seagate SATA in Raid 10
Memory: 1G
Motherboard: Gigabyte
1. TV Card Type: Nova-T 500MCE
2. TV Card Type: Nova-T 500MCE

Box has MS MCE with 4 TV Tuners operational. ScanChannelBDA recognises all 4 tuners. MediaPortal will only recognise one tuner card (both tuners). Attempting to add the other tuner raises a "no more tuners to add" dialog.

Are there any tricks I am missing here please?

Please ignore PM - I saw it first and assumed that I had duplicated someone elses thread but I presume from the fact that this one is still going that I must have created two of the same thread.

Yes, I have been using the config program. When I installed MP, the first config run picked up one card and auto scanned all channels successfully. After some forum research, I changed the priority on the the second tuner on that card and got 2 channels of record/view happening. I can tell from the allocated names that it is two tuners on the same card, so I went back into the config and tried to manually install the second card but it won't have any of it - says there are no other cards to install.

I had to do a registry tweak to get the second card to happen under MCE and wondered if there was something similar needed to be done for MP.

Lists two "Hauppauge Nova-DT Dual DVB-T Tuner Device". Both claim to be working properly and have driver 4.1.24093.0 dated 3/04/2006.

As noted previously, ScanChannelBDA is able to detect on all 4 tuners and MCE worked on all 4 tuners.

I have checked with the Hauppauge website and there is a later install set (CD build 3.1E) which I am downloading at 5kB/s.

GTG for work and haven't had a chance to load new drivers.

Cheers

Sorry, I pasted the wrong URL above... (damn firefox!)

Of course that URL was nonsense, so I corrected it.

Thanks, Callifo and mPod. I have downloaded both of your recommendations and followed the instructions "religiously" but always (after about 7 attempts) end up with the April 06 drivers listed. How can this be if hwclear deletes all of the old *.inf files?

For a bit of variety, I installed a Winfast USB tuner, and after some tweaking with the entry in CaptureCardDefinitions.xml, got it to load and scan in MP, so the backup plan (Gigabyte H663 chassis, which only takes one PCI card) will still allow me three tuners.

Back to my problem:
ScanChannelsBDA lists Dev1 Path0, Dev1 Path1, Dev2 Path0 and Dev2 Path1.

MP identifies the two tuners it has loaded as Dev1 Path0 and Dev1 Path1.

Windows reports two Nova tuners, both at Location0 but with different InstanceIDs - there is not enough information in the properties pages to determine if this is two cards or two tuners on the one card.

Comes down to: Is Windows only seeing one card - in which case it is probably unreasonable to expect MP to do any better, but how do I get Windows to see the other card? Or, is Windows seeing two cards and MP slacking off by not picking up on the second? If the answer is somewhat obvious, I'd be delighted to close the loop on this one, but if it's an imponderable then I'll go to Plan B.

Regards,

Bruce

In HCWClear you are using the bottom option (and the box ticked) right?

I found that I didnt need to use the setup program either, just tell it to search that directory on next reboot. I didnt think they even had support for those cards in that early (apr06), as there was quite a few driver revision with people asking for them.
