I tested this with MP 1.14pre and 1.14 final and DVB-S2, Provider UPC. Unfortunately still same character set problems :(

I am quite sure that the problem is the crappy quality of the provided EPG which shouldn't/cannot be corrected on the receiving side. My test showed that Argus TV suffers from the same character set problem (even tried all character set settings provided) and other providers with hungarian EPG are not affected.

Fortunately @hurley delievered us a usable solution with his EPG Cleaner Plugin. Just set up some filters/rules that replace the false special characters with the correct ones and regrab EPG. Much simpler solution than WebGrab xml epg (and alway up-to-date).

    Hello!
I have a very similar problem but with Portuguese :(
By opening the server configuration I can manually change the channel names to be with the right characters but I can't do the same with EPG.
    I'm using 1.15.0.0 version.
I hope you can help me!
    Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the TS dump (y)

Text encoding in the stream looks okay to me. It's encoded with byte marker 0x15, which means "UTF-8 encoding of ISO/IEC 10646 BMP". According to the earlier information in this thread:
DVB-S EPG wrong character encoding for Hungarian language

...text with that encoding scheme will not be decoded correctly. That's why you see the problem.

So in short: it's a known issue.

That means it is not possible to allow the MediaPortal TV Server to decode the UTF-8?
The only solution is using the WebEPG right?

    Thanks for your help (y)
