Hi
Since I install the last version of Mediaportal 1.2.3 my epg text`s are very stupid

The problem is the descriptions and the titles of the programs in the guide line are with strange characters and is really annoying. To better explain the problem I post some pictures of it. My EPG is from portugal.

Any ideas why this happens

Thanks

    Are you using MS SQL?
Current database implementation in MSSQL does not support unicode, only ANSI.

Well actually in the Windows Media Center I don`t have this problem then assume that there isn`t hardware problem. I use the last version of MySQL but if you say the problem is there, I'll check then better :)

    Thanks arion_p

Does this happen only in EPG/TVGuide? or does it also happen anywhere these characters are used (e.g. filenames, music tracks etc)?
If it happens only in EPG are you using only DVB-T EPG?

Only happen in EPG/TVGuide the descriptions are with the problem with words with ã and ç , sending you a snapshoot.

Other locations like filenames and music are ok. Yes i am using DVB-T EPG from the program and I selected Portuguese as Grab EPG for the following languages (POR). Other functions in the program are OK with portuguese language.

Can you please help, maybe all portuguese and brazilian people have this error.

    Thank you,

So, if I understand correctly, the problem is inserting the text in the DB not displaying it. What confuses me is that WebEPG also has this issue. AFAIK there was no change in WebEPG for a long time, certainly not between 1.2.2 and 1.2.3

Can you provide a sample of what is shown vs what should actually be shown? (currently see what is shown but have no idea what it was supposed to show)

Arion, yes the problem is inserting into the database. Some character are wrong. I´m sending you two pictures, please check the channel 4 - TVI the text displayed for topic and description.

One is from Microsoft Windows Media Center that is right ! and the other file attached is from MediaPortal that is displaying some alien language ?:( Maybe problems with SQL utf-8 or latin .... and the support to words with ç and ã

No problems with display, because i saw the database table and the characters are wrong there, so the problem is when the grabber inserts the data into the database. Asking you if i can get a workarround just to replace the wrong characters with right ones, after the grabber has finished its job.
