DVB-t not changing Aspect Ratio (1 Viewer)

I've currently got a 4:3 TV, resolution 1024x768.

I'm using the ffdshow video codec and all channels from the TVE3 engine are being displayed in 16:9 format, even on channels which I know are 4:3 (for example Sky Sports News).

Aspect Ratio is displayed correctly for .avi's, in TvSeries plugin.

I've attached a log file of a change from a 4:3 .avi file showing correctly in MPTvSeries Plugin, then change to 16:9 DVB-T signal (E4 - 16:9) to a 4:3 DVB-T signal (Sky Sports News - showing 16:9). If anybody can give me a clue as to why the aspect ratio is a constant 16:9, would be much appreciated

I am not going to be any use in solving your problem sorry, but I have a related problem in that I have to manually change my aspect ratio which is fine on channels broadcasting 4:3. However, I too have a 1024 x 768 pixel monitor and on the channels which I think are broadcasting in 14:9 the Letterbox 4:3 option looks too narrow, i.e. 16:9 rather than 14:9.

So (1) how to get auto-switching for aspect ratio and (2) how to get 14:9 unzoomed?

Sorry mortstar, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but whilst helping to solve your problem if anyone has some thoughts on my issue as well it would be appreciated.

If MPV codec is used at all in the graph, ie FFDSHOW is post processing then you will see AR problems as this is broken in MPV.

Use graphedit to see what codec is actualy in use while TV is running.

Try selecting a different codes like DSCALER and have FFDSHOW post processing.

EDIT: HTPC is using MPV Decoder Filter - I'll try using a different codec.

EDIT 2: Installed ATI AVIVO Codec - I have a 3870 - And Aspect Ratio is changing dynamically now.

Glad I could help.

The 3870 is an excellent card and the ATI AVIVO codec (cyberlink i beleive) is one of the best .

Quality is much better.

So does AVIVO codec use hardware acceleration for MPEG2?

Yes it is tailored to use the ATI GPU to its best abitltiy, if you go into the CATALYST control center you can also adjust some AVIVO settings if you want to aswell.

If you use ffdshow, make sure to use the "original aspect ratio" option, under the resize settings. I think you have to change all of the settings in ffdshow video filter settings, not Mediaportal.
