Hello,

I noticed yesterday that my picture on it are exposed to weak signal. Now I wanted to attach an amplifier in between.

First off I wanted to ask you whether I can do that with my combination?

HTPC-> USB DVB-T Stick> power-> Active Antenna Phillips (15db)

It would bring something in my configuration to a switch amplifier in between? Because I've read on the internet that these amplifiers are only for there to enhance an existing one good signal for a long distance.

Here I found a good guide:

Tutorial

Good for anything? Or do you think it's junk? With wire because I'm at a price of 9 €

Momentarily my signal varies depending on the broadcaster by 4% - 99%: /
RTL e.g. lies in the cut at 2% - 40%. RTLII contrast, at 85% - 99%

Sorry for my bad englisch ;)

    Is your antenna connected to a power source giving it 5V?
    I ask, as many TV-cards don't do this, leaving antenna passive. You can add an "inserter" if there is no 5V connections on antenna.

    Hi

    Indeed, it is likely that the tuner does not provide the power for the active antenna...
    You can try an amplifier *but* be careful that the amplifier does not amplify DC voltage from the power inserter and/or that you connect it like this:

    [Edit (clarification):

    correct

    USB tuner ==> amp ==> power inserter ==> aerial

    wrong/dangerous

    USB tuner ==> power inserter ==> amp ==> aerial

    ]

    Usually you want the amp as close to the signal source (aerial) as possible so you minimise the amount of noise that is being amplified.

    I think you should test the power inserter first...

    Hello,
    Thank you for your reply:) So at the moment is the power inserter directly behind the USB tuner. Then I will test even know if it will get better if I put the power inserter directly in front of the antenna.

    If that also does not work, one amplifier would be best used?

    Wish you a nice day;)

    Yes, you could try an amplifier, although I would also check the alignment of the aerial first.

    Best regards,

    I'm a great believer in asking neighbours for there views on tv signal quality, if they get good results, then find out why ;)

    AW: DVB-T Signal is to bad

    Hi fanavity,
    i have build a passive DVB-T antenna described on cnet. Unfortunately it is in german, maybe you can translate it with google translator. First i have installed an active DVB-T antenna, but with that one i get not good results. So i search the internet for a good self made antenna and found this one on cnet, which is passive and gave me very good results.
