I still don't understand why you don't just set up the speaker config in Win7 sound mixer to be 5.1 and run as 5.1 channel PCM over HDMI between the PC and AV receiver ? (AFAIK, Intel HD2000 graphics and the TX-SR605 can both handle multi-channel PCM)

Decoding AAC to PCM, re-encoding it to AC3 (transfer over HDMI) then decoding it back to PCM in the AV receiver isn't going to improve the sound quality....

I guess the same as me in that it is actually the stereo stuff that is the problem. With speakers set to 5.1 you only get output from front speakers but silence from centre and rears. What I want to happen is for the 5.1 AAC to come out as 5.1 LPCM but for the stereo stuff to come out in a format that will trigger pro-logic on the amp.

Good point - I know I'm not the only one waiting for LAV Audio decoder to implement an FFDShow-style matrix channel mixer, so you can do home-brew upmixing :)

Good question but for me this way is easiest to achieve what I want.

All my content come via my HTPC to my amp DTS and HD audio is just passed though be my filters and this is played back with no processing on the amp, this works perfectly

The problem comes with the AAC stuff is output from HTPC to amp as PCM I could get the amp to mix it into DD and be done with it but the problem comes when I play music as it again is output to amp as PCM which means my amp will by default try to upmix that too which I don't like!

Yes I can change the listening modes but fiddling like that has a low WAF

So doing this my amp play the TV stuff a DD and just play the music as direct stereo and my movies are fine as they are all bit-streamed the bonus is it will select al the formats for me!

I managed to get this working when I had a 5 min play today using the mod found here https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...work-tv-graphbuilding-cc-post-process-103606/
