Thanks buddman. I had a look at the page you linked, but I think for now compiling a new build of MP is a bit much for me. Is there any way to just turn off or get rid of directvobsub so it doesn't get in the way? I'll just do this till MPC-HC subtitle support is integrated into MP if possible.

    :D

I think as long as DirectVobSub is not included as a post processing filter, then you're fine (though not completely sure, been awhile since I used software decoding on subtitles). The way I normally test video files to see if DXVA is working is to use the MPC-HC player itself (provided of course I've configured it correctly), and if it works, then I know the stand-alone codec will work. Are you by chance using the stand-alone MPC-HC codec, or have you tried it yet? It's pretty easy to setup and does not require modifying MP in any way. You just won't be able to use subtitles is all.

Go to XvidVideo.RU for the latest stand alone codec, register it, and then you will be able to select it as a codec in MP's video settings.
