A differnet PSX emulator......PSX Emulator! :) It requires no plugins as they are all included and has a very high compat rate with games. I have been using it for 6 months with onyl a few minor problems. Currently working on a way to autoload PSX cd's when they are detected in MP with this emulator.

The Emulator Zone - pSX <-- PSX 1.13 Win(all)

Thanks, but unless you can hand me te correct settings for mediaportal I cannot add this emulator to the startpost... :)

Rkooten,

My pleasure. I hope you'll have lots of fun playing Mame now :)

Which emus do you use the most?

I think that must be Kega Fusion (MD, GG, MS, 32X, MCD), ZSnes (SNES), Nestopia (NES), Mame (Arcade, especially NeoGeo), Ootake (PC Engine). I'll probably do away with Kega Fusion for megadrive emulation. Instead I want to use Regen. Regen seems to be a lot more accurate. I haven't found the correct settings for that emulator yet though.

Neogeo, I don't know that... Is it fun?

One other thing you maybe could help me with;

how do you close the emulator program with the remote and go back to mediaportal ?

I'm having some problems with that...

how do you close the emulator program with the remote and go back to mediaportal ?

I put this in the FAQ, lemme know if it helps and if anybody has anything to add:

Q: How can I exit every emulator with the same key press?

A: You can go to this site which has a list of emulators
that have been modified to be closed with the same key
press (esc):

http://localarcade.com/screenshotarchive/downloads_emus.htm

Or you can get one of these programs to map key presses
to remotes/gamepads and set a button to Alt+F4 to close
emulators (although it does not work in every situation,
e.g. ePSXe wont save...):

JoyToKey (simplest)
http://www.oneswitch.org.uk/2/I/JoyToKey/JoyToKey.htm

Xpadder (has many options)
http://www.xpadder.com/

ControlMK (pretty simple)
http://www.redcl0ud.com/controlmk/index.html

AutoHotkey (uses scripts)
http://www.autohotkey.com/

HIP (main purpose is remotes, has small delay)
http://www.byremote.com.au/HIP/

Pinnacle Game Profiler (costs money)
http://www.pinnaclegameprofiler.com/

Total Game Control (costs money)
http://www.digitaltransforms.com/

Notes: ePSXe has to be closed with Esc. If it is closed
with Alt+F4 it won't save the game and the process will
still be running.

In ZSNES if you go into 'Misc' then 'Misc Keys' and click
'Exit' you can define it as one of your remote/gamepad
buttons or a custom key. The exit key for ZSNES only
works when a rom is loaded though, not when ZSNES is just
sitting idle.

also Justchill, what happened to your solution from this thread:?

Hi,

thanks for this extended reply. Well about my previous solution, there is kinda of a problem with it; I wrote to the author of translator of it:

Hi,

I have a problem with translator.
I want to close an emulator program with the stop button on my MCE remote and return back to mediaportal.
So I've set translator to execute

process -k zsnesw.exe

this kills the emulator program, that is good.
However, here is the problem: the STOP button on the MCE remote is also fetched by MediaPortal and thus it restarts the emulator (because I pressed stop).

Do you know a workaround, other than choosing another button on my remote?

best wishes,

Justchill

perhaps anyone here knows a solution ?

I think there is a one "mistake" with gba/gbc/gb emulator :) because *.* filetype shows ALL files (incl sav battery files) as roms. So when you played some games i.e. you played Castlevania Circle of the Moon.gba (or .zip) then emulator create a save battery file Castlevania Circle of the Moon.sav and when you next time look for new games in myEmulators then a sav file will be added as game to list and we have "little mess" ;) because every game will be listed twice (and when we choose a wrong file (with *.sav) a VirtualBoy just say NO) ;)

examples of filetypes
for Gameboy Advance filetypes: *.gba;*.zip
for Gameboy, Gameboy Color, SuperGameboy: *.gb;*.gbc;*.sgb;*.zip

You're right. I will put it in the startpost. However, not everybody uses the same filetypes. I like .7z if possible. Others will rather use .zip or the actual system-specific ROM-format.

I guess I will have to keep it simple and point people to the possibility of filtering the filetypes. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
