It is not apparent to me what TV sources you are all using:
DVB-T/T2
In the UK the TV signals contain a full 7-day EPG that you can receive using MP. By "full" I mean that it covers all DVB-T/T2 channels, but it contains fewer details than other sources (e.g. only one or two sentences for the programme description). Nevertheless it is sufficient for deciding what to watch and scheduling recordings. This is what I use.
Does Germany have a similar EPG broadcast as part of the TV signals?
DVB-S/S2
I have never used satellite TV, but I was under the impression that each satellite has a dedicated channel that transmits the EPG. MP can receive this EPG if you tune to the correct channel. I don't know how many days the EPG contains.
DVB-C/C2
Again I have never used this form of TV, but I would expect it to be similar to DVB-T/T2, i.e. the TV signals contain an embedded EPG.
IPTV
I have never used IPTV, and don't know what EPG sources are available for it. Sorry.
One source that may work for all TV sources is Schedules Direct (not free). According to this page they provide an EPG for Germany. I have never used it, but my understanding is that it is a high quality EPG, containing more details than the DVB-T/T2 EPG in the UK. Cost is around $35 per year.
For Germany, Schedules Direct provides only the JSON form, so you would need to use a JSON to XML converter, before being able to import the XML EPG into MP.
