Tvspielfilm broken? from my testing it still works... @catavolt can you confirm?
There was a change noted by some other programs in #528, WebEPG isn't using that URL.

Edit - Tempest-EPG-Generator has a reported issue for its live.tvspielfilm.de scrapper but not m.tvspielfilm.de - live.tvspielfilm.de _0 is Broken · Issue #225 · K-vanc/Tempest-EPG-Generator

That looks good but how to schedule download and use it as an ongoing source?
In the XmlTv Plugin configuration, under the remote tab, put the URL in and enable scheduled downloads.

Add the xmltv.dtd file to the folder you have listed in the first tab. Create a text file in the same folder, type epg.xml into it and save, then rename the text file to tvguide.lst (including changing the extension)

The link you gave to xmltv.dtd seems to be just text, what should I be doing with that? Also quote "Create a text file in the same folder, type epg.xml into it" do you mean copy and paste the contents of the downloaded epg.xml into the text file?
It would really help if you would post an example of each file.

Press Ctrl+S or right click and then Save as to save it as a file.

No, just the filename epg.xml in the text file. MP only looks for for a file called tvguide.xml, the download is named epg.xml. The .lst file will tell it to look for the other name. You also need to tick "Import files in new tvguide.lst" in the general tab.

It would really help if you would post an example of each file.
I stopped using MP a several years ago, the wiki page I linked to has more information and screenshots. Try the attached

    @joecrow
I installed easyepg according to the instructions, but I get an error when starting, no matter which browser.
I have activated the port in the Fritzbox.\u00A0

What else do I need to set?

Interestingly using the remote tab in the XmlTv plugin to download the epg.xml renames the download to tvguide.xml regardless so that is of some help! However on further testing it looks like I was mistaken when I posted that I could use the epg.xml, when I attempt to import it shows 207 channels but no programs!

Did you map the channels and save them in the Mappings tab?
I tried but clicking on the selection box shows no options, just blank! Gave it another try this morning and quite by chance discovered it needs a double click then the mapping options are displayed can be saved and the import functions.:D:):):)(y)
    Thank you.

One problem with the epg.xml is that hardly any of the programs are categorised (TvSpeilfilm was much better close to if not 100%) .:( As far as I can tell most programs just do not have the category included in the downloaded .xml. A few are categorised so it does not appear to be an MP issue, see attached screen shots. Anyone have an idea how it could be improved?

MP has a set of predefined programme categories (genres). But what MP receives from the EPG provider is uncontrolled. So MP has to map the genre strings received from the EPG provider to MP's predefined genres. You do this in "TV Server Config".

If you look on the genre panel in "TV Server Config", you will see a list of the genres that MP has received from the EPG provider, and you can define what those genres should map to in the MP client.

So one possibility is that most of the genres from the new EPG provider are different from those that you received previously, and hence are unmapped.

Another possibility is that the new EPG provider mostly does not provide genres. (With the DVB-T EPG in the UK, many programmes do have genres, but a significant number do not; and the genres provided are not always consistent or sensible.)
