Let me start by saying I love MP, but I'm to the point of ultimate frustraition that I am ready to just give up!!

Every aspect of my system works flawlessly, and my tuner card (a Hauppague PVR-250) works fine with the Win2000 software that came with it. However, MP displays an error window every time I enter "My TV". It will not record anything, and it will not tune to any channels (although the MP Configure does show channels when it scans). I've tried every codec that comes with MP and no change.

As soon as I turn on My TV the error pops up, just a box with the OK button. What does this Error mean??

    just to make sure:
did you "map" (button) the station which were found during the scan?
Only then the channels will be saved.
But info is unsure because it is such a long time when I set this up. Maybe mapping isn´t necessary anymore.

Edit: seems the "map" button changed to "Add"

would be interesting to see whats in your log, perhaps delete the files in the log folder of media portal , then start MP back up again and try it again, when it crashes then paste in the small part of the log so we can see whats the deal. See if it describes any problems.
    Thanks

Also, just a possibility, but are you running with Administrator access?
It's been mentioned a few times in the past that the way the MS timeshifting function works that these files are flagged as system files and as such can only be written to as administrator unless you take all the steps to change the access.

But yeah, check out the logs. I'm sure there will be something in there that explains what is happening.

Alright guys, as suggested I deleted all of the logs then reloaded... below are a couple of things I noticed in the logs... I admit I have no idea what they mean or how to fix them... so your suggestions are welcome!

Just another followup, for kicks I installed Beyond TV 4, and the tuner works correctly, and records as it should in that, so it must be a problem with my MP install or config...

    Any ideas?

They don't really scream anything obvious to me sorry.
I even tried googling that error and CLSID and this thread was the only thing that showed up.

You never confirmed wether you were using MP under an administrator account. This is about all I can think of for your error.

By Administrator account, I'm assuming you mean windows Administrator. I only have the one main user setup on the machine, and the account does have admin rights.

There's also a lot of talk about different Huappage drivers working better than others. It seems in this case that newest isn't always best.

I don't have any experience with these cards, so hopefully someone else may be able to shed some more light and let you know the best driver version to work with this card and MP.
It may seem like a lot of work now, but trust me that it is very well worth it ;-)
