The question is: are you able to watch 1080i content at 1920x1080 resolution? Because I'm not :(.

Since ION hardware is limited to Adaptive Deinterlacing and after 1 year of trying to find a solution to the bad picture quality may i suggest something interesting?

Adaptive Deinterlacing (whether under XP or Vista/7) will give u a flickering picture. You can easily notice it on sport events where there are score bars, those bars are not stable and they are flickering up and down.

So what i did is the following.

Force deinterlace method to BOB in PDVD9 codec and then made a custom resolution in NVIDIA panel "1920x1080 Interlaced 50Hz" critical point here is INTERLACED.

Now it depends on ur TV but mine (Samsung UE40B6000) is trying to deinterlace the signal and guess what? The picture quality is way better than before.

    You can try it yourself.

i have test samples for 1080i deinterlacing.... (search th forum for slicies) of course, it's not perfect with the ion, but hey... the whole system needs less power then some graphic cards out there ;)

hopefully, broadcasters will use the new standards.... and hopefully it will be non interlaced :p

tried all codecs again.. since timeshift is not on network share, things are working fine :)

Just got a new ion toy and trying to get a MP client to run on it. I got major problems trying to sync dts/ac3 and there's also glitches in the audio. I've tried different codecs and they all have audio/video out of sync. The video is smooth though with DXVA on and no dropped frames @ 1080p24.

I even got audio/video sync issues in MPC-HC. I'm all out of ideas, please help!

Try ac3filter codec, there you have a slider to adjust the audi sync, works great in my case. There is also a good guide in the forum how to configure ac3 for spdif passthrough (if you need that)

    cheers

I have almost decided to return the board. It's just not the sync issues but also audio drops/glitches when passing through DTS/DD. If I downmix these formats to stereo and send them via HDMI to my TV the sync is flawless. I've also tried different cables, optical and coax. Tried the same files on my laptop connected to AVR via optical spdif and the sync was perfect.
