Since ION hardware is limited to Adaptive Deinterlacing and after 1 year of trying to find a solution to the bad picture quality may i suggest something interesting?
Adaptive Deinterlacing (whether under XP or Vista/7) will give u a flickering picture. You can easily notice it on sport events where there are score bars, those bars are not stable and they are flickering up and down.
So what i did is the following.
Force deinterlace method to BOB in PDVD9 codec and then made a custom resolution in NVIDIA panel "1920x1080 Interlaced 50Hz" critical point here is INTERLACED.
Now it depends on ur TV but mine (Samsung UE40B6000) is trying to deinterlace the signal and guess what? The picture quality is way better than before.
You can try it yourself.
The question is: are you able to watch 1080i content at 1920x1080 resolution? Because I'm not .
