I don't get it,
what's wrong with My Movies? And what exactly do you want to change?

It seems like you never used TV Series plugin.
Basically:
1. Automation of downloading of the information:
a) Standarized database with quality screenshots, banners, DVD covers
b) drop a file into your share and it will be automatically recognized and added to the database without any of your intervention. Forget about scanning etc.. It's done on the fly and when necessary.
c) no more fiddling with if I have a cover for a right movie. No more changing lowres to highres - it all happens automatically.
2. Interface - it's so much better and easier to use
3. Multilanguage. If you prefer german information, you get german information about your show/movie.
4. Integration with torrent, news etc.. (this will not be needed for My Movies)
....
5. and many many more.. Have a look at the existing plugin wiki and you'll see the difference immediately.
6. My Movies is ugly and everything else but ergonomically to use. 
I use it all the time, so I know what we're talking about

2. nah... I have 540 movies, and I dont think it's possible to use the same interface as in My TVSeries with that many different movies. Even with My TVSeries I have the feeling it's not very ergonomical in use when 'only' 34 different series need to be displayed.

So, for me, integration with My Movies isn't necessary. Altough I think My Movies needs some extra attention and improvement.
What I'd like to see is a 'My TVSeries' built for music-vids, which works together with 'My Music'. This way all music-vids would be sorted by artist, album, genre, ... each clip with its own banner and album-cover.

What I actually would love to see is ability to have one plugin open separate databases.
Let's say you enter my movies, and it proposes you, "My porn", "Kid's movies", "All other movies" etc..
After opening the database, all functionality we could have the same as we have now, or would it be extended TV Series functionality.
Perfect way would be if you could list those databases in main menu of MP, and protect them with a PIN.
I believe Meedio works this way, and this approach gives you much more flexibility in cataloguing your collection.
From plugin (application) point of view, it really is not much of a change, it doesn't care which database it serves - it has the same functionality for whichever database you are using.

I disagree about the integration of myMovies into MyTVSeries
IMHO MyMovies or MyFilms or MesFilms has several very good advantages
- YOU perfectly control what's in the database. Thanks to the ANT movie catalog you can modify easily the database with an existing program working very well in a lot of language. So you know exactly what is going to be on your screen, and you can easily modified it.
- you can have several configurations at the same time
- it is very fast
Its drawbacks are: it is not automatic.
MyTVSeries is automatic and this causes some problems: when MP starts it speands some time to update the database (I wonder why it is necessary to do that). When you remove the option and when you want to add new episodes or new series and need to redo all the database creation from scratch.
This upsets me for instance.
IMHO MediaPortal should remains a nice interface and not reinvent the wheel all the time. There are nice existing tools why is it needed to redevelop them?

- ANT Movie Catalog is a database builder/editor for movies. It has the capability to integrate data coming for large number of sources (web pages). It is used by a lot of people and there are a lot of documentation.
- MyFilms is an integrator of this database into mediaportal. It has a nice interface with a database and propose clever option to select movies. You can build configuration. This plugin is nice and very well organized. In addition it is fast.
In ANT movie catalog (AMC) you can have automatic scripts (i.e. dealing with a large number of movies automatically). There exist tools (AVIList) which reads the avi files of some of your directories and then they create an AMC database from this list. Then, you just need to open AMC and then to ask a script to fill in all the data for all the avi files.
So, I like this approach. This is also automatic.

I agree with piranha - the drive behind a movies version of mp-tvseries is more about leveraging the awesome work done already in this plugin but using it against a movie database rather than tv database.
It only checks if there are updates; if there are it updates them. I can only see this as being an advantage.
Lastly I don't want to have to manually add every single movie I have in my collection, nor preferably manage that collection using an external tool. This is where MP-TVSeries is so strong - it automates the process of managing a large collection of tv shows and maintains that data from a regularly updates public database.
If there is data you don't like, modify it on the website, the bonus being the rest of the community will also benefit from your updates.
If myfilms or mymovies works well for you, then that's great - this proposal is not looking to supplant those happy using ANT databases. However from personal experience, I attempted setting up a very simply ANT and dvdprofiler database in myfilms to catalogue my dvd collection and found the configuration cryptic, frustrating and overall, far too hard. I am a programmer by trade and when I say hard, it must be to turn me away.
There *must* be an easier way to configure and maintain dvd collections in mediaportal; I just happen see the way MP-TVSeries manages tv shows as the extremely intelligent and user-friendly and would beperfect way to do the same for movies.
