You need to start the service - there is a heartbeat check for the service within MP, it checks the TVServer service is running every few seconds (causing the hiccup).
Start the TVServer service and voila :)

is there a way to slow down the heartbeat check?
i still don't see mysql login config in tvserver's config program. where is it?
tvserver works fine already, by the way.

i don't watch television most of the time unless guests come over.

most of the time, i'm listening to music or watching a video.
when i'm listening to music or watching videos, i can't watch television at the same time anyway.

my main concern is with milkdrop:
i use milkdrop for my visuals.
even when mediaportal has the focus, milkdrop caps out at about 35 frames per second at fullscreen.
i use milkdrop from within winamp.
in winamp, at full screen, i get something like 70 fps on milkdrop.
so the problem isn't with milkdrop.

    Start -> run -> services.msc
Check the TVservice is running - if not start it...
There is a thread for Milkdrop too - it basically says there is a problem at the moment.... (with the BassVis bit...)

    tvserver is running just fine.

once again, when mediaportal doesn't have the focus, i get around 8fps on mediaportal's menus and on milkdrop. that seems incredibly low, given that i a dualcore and a gig of memory.

just for curiosity, i tested xbmc on windows at fullscreen. it has no lag at all.

i was wondering if it was possible to manually update bassvis by itself. if there's a thread for that, please post a link. thanks!

Bassvis is compiled into the core so there is no DIY solution :(
This thread is for the menu stuttering seen when the TVserver service is not running - not a framerate issue with Milkdrop.
You need to make a new thread or post in the correct bit: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/listen-music-99/how-milkdrop2-works-rc1-39154/index12.html
(I have seen your post there) FYI - I have NO plugins\plugins folder so try deleting that dir temporarily.

also, are you using the files that Pretoriano posted HERE??

I'm using the file from there too - also Streamed MP - No lag here :)
(though the slow refresh power save thing DOES kick in after a while)
