Multiple Episodes in a single file: I have searched for the phrase "Multiple AND Episodes" but I've not found anything so I'm guessing it hasn't been asked before so here goes...

I have a DVD (Doctor Who) which is a combination of 6 episodes in one file. What is the naming convention or expression to use to get the impoort to detect ALL episodes. I know I can use S11E15E16E17E18E19E20 as the name but thats too awkward. Is there a way to make it so it's like S11E15-E20? So far I have it named S11E15E20 but then it only picks up episodes 15 and 20 and nothing in between. I tried S11E15-E20 but it does the same thing.

Far as I know only 2 episodes are supported in single files containing more then one episode, but S11E15-20 might work.

If it doesn't but as you stated S11E15E16E17E18E19E20 works, then you can still use 'S11E15-20' in the filename by creating a string replacement to turn 'S11E15-20' into 'S11E15E16E17E18E19E20', which will make it work, until a more permanent solution can be added into the plugin.

You're right with the two files. If I add a string replacement (ie: E05-E08 as E05E06E07E08) whereas before it picked up E05 and E08, this time it picks up E05 and E06. Hope this will be sorted at some later stage otherwise I'll have to try and figure out some other way of naming my files to include all episodes.

I don't have your situation myself, so when you said "I know I can use S11E15E16E17E18E19E20 as the name but thats too awkward.", I thought you meant that actually works for you.

But string replacements can be used to turn any workable+long string into a short alternative. So if "Dr. Who S11E15 + S11E16 + S11E17 + S11E18 + S11E19 + S11E20.avi" works, then you create a string replacement to allow "Dr. Who S11E15-20.avi" to represent the same, via:

'S11E15-20' = 'S11E15 + S11E16 + S11E17 + S11E18 + S11E19 + S11E20'

The key is to find that long version that works first, and that's where you will most likely run into the 2-part episode limit.

I assumed S11E15E16E17E18E19E20 would work but it doesnt. I have used a workaround telling MPTVS to download entire series even if I don't have them. Not ideal that's for sure and it still doesn't show me as having all the episodes as in being bolded in the details list but at least I have all the required artwork etc. I think I may need to delve into the reg expressions but that may take me a while. Going to see if I can find a reg expression builder to help me out.

OK, I've created an expression string which matches all of SxxxE001....E999 but now I need to see whether the renaming string is working. Is there anywhere I can see the string renaming in action (logs etc.). I've looked in the logs but they appear to be a day behind. Do they only get used when MP is run rather than when MP Config is run and MPTV is setup? (Feel free to move these questions if you feel they are in the wrong forum).

I am having an issue with the series "V". The 2009 version parses fine because the filenames have v.2009.s01.... in them, however the 1983 version of the series, parses as the 2009 series, no matter what i do.

Can anybody help!
