SATA drive in enhanced mode

This is a clean installation of Windows XP SP3, this problem with the exact same hardware did not occur on Vista nor Vista SP1, but I had it before on Windows XP SP2.

Problem:
GUI is extremely slow in full screen. Watching a movie and performance is great, press the INFO button and movie almost stops playing because it so slow.

What I noticed but never tried on Vista: Even when MediaPortal is idle it uses 50% CPU!

Trouble shooting steps:
- I tried the Windows advanced trouble shooting driver settings but didn't make any difference.
- On-Chip Frame Buffer set to 8MB, DVMT Mode tried, FIXED, DVMT and BOTH, DVMT/FIXED Memory size set to 128MB

Please let me know if more details are needed, then I will collect them

Can you set your graphics chip memory used in the BIOS to its maximum, hopefully 256mb, see if this changes things.

    Please do the following:
Start > xxx- > Team MediaPortal -> Mediaportal -> MediaPortal Logscollector

Follow procedure given. (Start MP -> Browse around -> Exit MP -> Gather logs -> Attach 'em here)

    [MediaPortal log is missing .

I personaly think your GPU isn't capable; how are your CPU usage and FPS when running MP.

FPS can be seen with shift+1 .

The thing is, performance wise it was running superb on Vista!
Now at XP the CPU load is 50% when MP is idle, as soon as I run a DVD or MKV the CPU load drops.
I really think it is a bug, not necessary with MP but perhaps the Intel driver in combination with XP.

Have you tried un-installing any intel display drivers and just letting MS update supply the drivers, failing that use/test an earlier revision of the intel drivers.

Also is this oddity still expressed when running MP in windowed mode?

There have been similar issues with other graphic cards as well. I was hit by the same problem with an ATI Radeon 1650 HDMI. Look here
