thanks for the new code - will try it tomorrow

As an experiment I turned off all EPG and scheduled lots of recording during the day.

When I got home the m/c was in standby (good sign) but when I switched on MP wouldn't respond (screen came up with toolbar on the along the bottom showing MP). Tried remote and keyboard to no effect. Used task manager and it showed MP not responding. Killed it and system went immediately back to standby - seen this before and raised call on RC2.

and did all the recording get done....................... no. Logs attached but from what I can see from the tvserver the first program recorded OK and stopped as expected:

2010-05-27 07:30:14.203125 [scheduler thread(22)]: Scheduler: stop record BBC TWO 5/27/2010 07:10:11-5/27/2010 07:25:00 Muddle Earth

The m/c went to suspend but mentions hibernate - both tvserver and client are set to suspend

When I wake the system up at 18.09 it clearly there are orphaned scheduled recording.

2010-05-27 18:09:00.843750 [scheduler thread(22)]: Scheduler: Orphaned once schedule found 484 - removing

The system tehn goes back to suspend

I can confirm the same issue. 1st recording after suspend works, after 2nd is does not.

understand the point about multiple problems per post.

Heres the logs from the new tvserver code

again it only recorded the first scheduled program HOWEVER MP would not rstart on resume - had to kill it again from task manager. Will start a another thread

Well I am confused - so good luck to the developers on this one.

The only sensible logs are in the .bak files. The current logs appear to be from a reload - and I didnt do it :)

So from the tv.bak file I see the first recording starting and stopping:

    2010-05-28 01:15:03.187500 [scheduler thread(27)]: Scheduler: stop record Channel 4 5/28/2010 00:50:16-5/28/2010 01:10:00 Music on 4: The Album Chart...

but the log stops with a final entry:

    2010-05-28 01:16:53.140625 [PowerEventThread(8)]: OnPowerEventHandler: PowerStatus: QuerySuspendFailed

looking at the latest tv log i see

    2010-05-28 17:03:33.015625 [scheduler thread(27)]: Scheduler: Orphaned once schedule found 503 - removing

which matches the failure to record since 01:16... but what happened between then and 17:03? As far as I can see the system was in standby

The mp log is similar - the .bak file stops with

    2010-05-27 23:25:10.593750 [Debug][MPMain(1)]: TVHome: HeartBeat Transmitter stopped.

and the new one starts with

    2010-05-28 00:49:06.015625 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST: 18

but very soon I fiond the last entry:

    2010-05-28 01:19:07.625000 [Info.][MPMain(1)]: TvNotify: stop

guess this is not the problem this thread is looking for.......but its a problem

I have reinstalled the tv server and mysql as suggested by jameson_uk in order to resolve another problem (channel selection by number). Well it has solved that problem and regrettable (for finding the bug) this problem has gone away too

Since the reinstall I cannot reproduce the problem of failing to record WITHOUT the new code (I wanted to ensure the problem existed before testingthe new code) I have tried lots of recordings and they all worked. The system has shut down and restarted quite happily. I will carry on monitoring but don't hold your breath.......:sorry:
