Hi

I found MediaPortal while trying to solve this issue. It seems like a good program, and seeing as it is open-source I believe there are some competent people around who can help me.

I normally have used WinampTV to watch TV, but now this program gives the following error message:

"Graph will not run
Error: The device is not connected.
(8007048f)
Capture driver: ATI AVStream Analog Capture"

And the screen remains black.

So I have tried a bunch of different programs (DScaler, K!TV, VLC, ChrisTV), and most of them give the same or a similar message. Then I found MediaPortal and thought that maybe the way it reacted to the error could shed some light on this.

When using the first-startup wizard to scan for channels, it just exits immediately without any notice whatsoever. There are some errors generated in the log files, though. The log files are attached.

If I skip the channel searching and start MediaPortal, when I start the TV I get the message "Graph will not run" (or something similar). It is also possible to scan for channels in MediaPortal, but this does not detect any channels.

Thank you for any help.

(PS: I guess you could make it impossible to scan for channels when "the graph cannot run" in a future release? I think at least WinampTV does this.)

If no other program will run then it's either a driver problem or a lack of something from it's own supplied software (example decoder).

Uninstall any software that relates directly with the TV card, go to device manager and uninstall the TV card.

    Reboot

XP should then reinstall TV card drivers, or you could do it manually, install saphires own TV software and try using.

Rule of thumb, if it does not work with it's own software, it sure as hell will not work with Mediaportal.

    Regards

Thanks for advice PD, although I have already tried reinstalling drivers, software etc. Today I reinstalled .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0 and 1.1. There seemed to be something wrong with the 1.1 installation that made it hard to remove, but I managed in the end.
So, with all clean installs of .NET ...

    Still no good.
But now there is a different exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80040154): Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG))

I hope this can help you help me.

    Thanks.

(I am sorry the log is (partially) in Norwegian)

Seems like a certain decoder filter can't be found/ is not installed.
    Which codecs (audio/video) are selected?

Cybear, I don't think you have followed PD's advice - there is no point trying to get your Sapphire TheatriX theatre 550 card to work with Mediaportal if you cannot get it to work with its own TV application first.

As PD said "if it does not work with it's own software, it sure as hell will not work with Mediaportal."

You need to go back to basics and get the Sapphire TheatriX to work with its own application first - then you can move up to MediaPortal.

    Taipan and PD,

Actually, the software that came with the TV-card, PowerCinema 3.0, never worked for me. When I first got the card, I therefore used VLC to watch TV. But this was impractical, as I had to select source manually each time I opened it, and use a separate control panel to change channels manually. So I scanned the web, and finally found WinampTV which was much more practical.
It seems to have been discontinued, though.

I must of course admit that I did not come here for support on MediaPortal ... I just thought you guys would know of these things.

I guess this thread could be moved to the "Codecs, external players" forum, if the problem is what gemx said.

Thank you both for your replies though, I guess I should have been clearer in the 1st post.

Thank you for helping me out, gemx!
    How do I check this?

To try and get some more information, I skipped the channel scan in the first start up-wizard and instead added one channel manually using the configuration utility. Then I went to myTV, and got the message:
    "Failed to start TV
    Unable to create graph".

    Some more logs were created.

Please help, I really want to make this work again!

Just found out that I am missing the "Encoder filters" from the configuration program. Can this have any significance?
I also installed the "MainConcept MPEG Video Encoder", but this did not help.
