I'm only getting error messages in my fanarthandler.log. No fanart showing. Could someone take a look at attached logfile?

ThX for your hard work Cul8er....

I have some troubles with this tho couse no fanart is showing up, i think i followed the instructions but maybe i missed something here....

I'm running a beta version of MP, installed the X-Factor skin and installed the Fanart plugin trough the MPI installer inside the Mediaportal directory, I also adjust the setting inside MP for MP beta 1.1 image support.

Is there a option "start scraping" that i'm missing somewhere or something else ?

Reporting on a few issues:

1) Somehow the Fanarthandler database became corrupt.

I realised this as the plugin wasn't working anymore and MP was running at 95% CPU. I backed up the DB and reinstalled the plugin and it fixed the issue. By curiosity I restored the previous DB and the problem started again. So I deduct the problem was with the database.

Error Log returned:24-Jan-2010 14:42:05 Error [ FanartHandlerSetup]: startScraperNowPlaying: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at FanartHandler.FanartHandlerSetup.startScraperNowPlaying(String artist)

Selecting "Reset Scraper" seems to resolve the issue, but I'm not 100% sure.

2) Selecting "Delete All Fanart" crashes

3) Trying to remove the package returns "Invalid Package"

Enhancement Request: Local Import for music fanart with confirmation on non exact matches.

I'd like to see the ability for a local import. I imagine it would work as follows

User selects a directory that contains the fanart.
The plugin scrapes that directory using the same logic it uses to scrape htbackdrops
It matches up the filename with any music artist in music database.
If it finds a match it copies the file from the users fanart directory into the plugins fanart directory and then adds the file to the database.

This would be useful in the event the database becomes corrupt, the user can backup the existing \skinfanart\music directory and then repoint the plugin to this backedup folder. The other advantage is that if you reinstall mediaportal you can backup your music fanart. The other advantage is there are several large .zip files floating around that contain heaps of artist images, so the user could quickly import that. The advantage of an import over a raw copy is that i imagine it gets integrated into the database, and also if there are any spelling problems they can be confirmed/denied with a dialog box.

Another option could be confirmation if not exact match. If filename is only close match then show thumbnail and ask do you want to use this for artist XXXXX?

The plugin would also notice if it imported a file called %artistname% (#####).jpg. In which case it would ignore the (#####) for artist matching. It would also realise that the artist image was probably downloaded previously by fanart handler plugin so would some how figure out not to redownload that image from htbackdrops.

Enhancement Request: Local Import for other types of fanart

The import button could also be used to import other types of fanart.
eg. Click local import
Then click fanart type eg. "Games / Movies / Music ... etc ..."
This would increase plugin useability for people who might have trouble finding the mediaportal appdata directory and manually copying files.

Enhancement Request: Show folder

Along with local import there is a button open fanart folder
User selects open fanart folder
Then there is a selection prompt "Movies / Music / Games etc..."
Then it opens the selected folder in file explorer

Not sure if this problem is Fanart Handler, or XFactor, or rekenaar

Problem: On Xfactor basichome, I get a Scraping message - turning circle with a % sign in the middle, but no progress number. With my current settings I would expect not to see the message.

My settings for Fanart handler: Auto Download - both disabled
Using current SVN version of Xfactor

Hi mariusau & userjan,

I think you are both using the x-factor skin. I have missed one thing in the installation instructions, sorry for this. I will soon release a new x-factor version and because I have the version installed I missed this problem.

So to get things working you should;
* copy your fanart in the /thumbs/skin fanart/music to a backup location
* delete all fanart in the /thumbs/skin fanart/music folder
* copy your /database/fanarthandler.db3 file to a backup location
* delete your /database/fanarthandler.db3 file
* install the fanart handler MPI file
this should fix you issue.

The reason for this is that the old x-factor version already have a fanart handler database installed and it is not compatible with the fanart handler 1.0

I'm not sure this is on-topic... but because of naming issues at HTBackdrops, many images get overlooked, i.e., name includes resolution or labeled 'fanart' or mixes 'and' and '&' in combined artist names.

Is there a way to contact the admin at HTBackdrops to have these issues corrected for a more 'Fanart Handler' friendly experience. I couldn't find any contact links, and the GUI doesn't allow for registered users to delete or make changes (unlike the TVDB).

... found it..... Registered users can edit or delete their own submissions.

- find an image you submitted.
- click on your name (in parenthesis)
- select view all images submitted by you
- under the image there are options to edit or delete the image.
