1.2 is still in testing/debug... Cul8er still has a few annoying little 'undocumented features' to swat. I believe he plans on releasing 1.2 later this week, although later than he wanted.

Hi,
I've probably found few bugs in your plugin:

- It doesn't find my uploaded Fanart of "Culcha Candela" -> Home Theatre Backdrops  / Music Artist Backdrops / Culcha Candela
- It doesn't find my uploaded Fanart of "AFI" [or A.F.I.] -> Home Theatre Backdrops  / Music Artist Backdrops / A.F.I.

could someone confirm these bugs?! I'm using Version 1.0

Hope these bugs are not already known.

Hi jojo,

I think maybe they are still too fresh, and haven't been posted to the normal list. I checked 'AFI', and two showed up on the normal alphabetical screens, but they weren't yours. I did find yours on name searches ... so give them another day or so to clear.

Make sure it is either AFI or A.F.I. as the official name. The other two images were both AFI

I hope I don't offend anyone on HTBackdrops. I've been leaving a comment on images that are not named properly for Fanart Handler, asking if the names could be corrected. A few of them include such things as: #, -fanart#, (resolution) and other info that can cause fanart handler to skip them.

I've been correcting my music tags so I get more correct hits.

Yup I've requested a few title changes too, unfortunately you can't re-upload the same image under a different name as it has file detection software. However if you edit the EXIF tags in the jpeg using this Exifer for Windows. You can re-upload the same image without altering the jpeg compression/introducing compression artifacts, and then upload it under the correct artist name.

Just to let you all know that a new version of the fanart handler plugin will be released this weekend. The version being released will be 1.3. Current status is that we have a few outstanding "undocumented features" that I think is resolved but needs verification from the ones reporting the issues. A big, big thank you to the "test team" for all the tests and re-tests You have really put in alot of work helping me sorting out all the remaining issues.

Cul8er - Is there any way to get the fanart image to show up when choosing an album.
eg I have the following sublevel structure for browsing music in musicgenres

Album Artist -> Album -> Tracks

I don't get any fanart when at the album level, however I get fanart at the album artist and tracks level, is this because mediaportal doesn't provide this information at this level?

EDIT: I see you added this in 1.3RC1, nice work. I'm guessing you did an 'ugly hack' to stop the fanart from changing.
EDIT#2: I see it only works on a few artists, but most it doesn't. It is consistent whether or not it will work on a particular artist, but I'm unable to work out the pattern.

I thought you could do an ugly hack like this;

1. If artist name changes to [blank] and current view = "album artists" then stick with the same fanart image until artist name changes back to a valid string.

(or)

1. If artist name changes to [blank] then ask MP for the current album name (this is available to the skin, so should be available to your plugin).
2. Search the music database using the album name, to find out the album artist name for the first track it finds on the album and use that for fanart image reference .
3. If album artist name in database is also blank, then search the music database to find out the artist name for the first track it finds on the album and use that for fanart image reference.

Is anyone else noticing a lot of template errors at HTBackdrops?

I'm having issues with completing a scrape in manager (testing 1.3 rc 1) it seems to hang at the same location in the scrape for several tries, then appears to move to another location for several more. Would a spurious template error at HTBackdrops cause this?

I'm still testing and trying to rule out db corruption when the scrape hangs, also rule out whether the manager hangs when I scroll the list during a scrape. I hit the 'stop scraping' button after the scrape hangs and config seizes up and I have to kill it with Task Manager. I have no issue stopping the scrape anytime before the hang location.

So far this is stumping me.

A changelog from 1.2RC2 -> 1.3RC1 would help with testing

Okay...

This time, I removed all of handler files. rescanned my music db (exited MP config), reinstalled handler 1.3 rc 1, saved all my settings in handler and exited (exited MP config), started a new scrape in manager ... 1429 artists in music db.

I did not scroll the list, just let it scrape (only max 1 image per artist set for speed).

The scraping hung at 1001 artists added to handler db. 203 artists initialized (fanart found). 798 artists uninitialized.

It has been sitting at those values for 1/2 hour.

The previous 2 hangs were at 1003 and 1005 artists added to handler db...

After I exit (Task Manager)... the handler config log just ends at the last image scraped.

When I reenter manager, the value for artists added to the handler db is 1006.

I delete all images and exit. Then delete all the handler files, rescan my music db, reinstall the handler, change my settings, reset the scraper and exit.

I start MP, go to MyMusicGenres, pick a playlist and go to Now Playing. The scraping percentage value counts up til it reaches 71% and halts. I wait 15 minutes, then exit MP. I go back into manager and the value of artists added to the handler db is 1006.

Both the handler config log and handler log had the same last entry... 'found fanart for artist ricky martin'


Any suggestions?
