breen + nyt - to request support you have to enter a feature request in the Fanart Handler Issue Tracker. Since Anime2 already supports fanart, I assume you guys mean push RANDOM fanart? There is already a long and growing list of feature requests and I am surprised cul8er has not run for the hills!

If I could make a suggestion - this is a new plugin, barely a month old and only in 1.3 release. I think we should give cul8er a chance to resolve all the issues and ensure stability and performance before we go loading up the plugin with all our requests. I have lots too

I am not referring to this particular request for Anime2 Random Fanart, rather I mean in general. This is a somewhat unique plugin because it is a process plugin that affects many aspects of MP so cul8er has to ensure it integrates well within MP. We have already received so much benefit from this plugin that I think we can afford to go slowly and cautiously about adding new features. Just my 2 cents!

About the corrupted images;

I noticed that I can have serious issues when the fanarthandler has downloaded a corrupted image. It goes all the way as far as running out of memory, crashing MP and windows 7 telling me I need to reboot to get my RAM back.
Errors will show that there's no more memory but I think in fact this is triggered by fanarthandler trying to load that broken image into memory over and over and not correctly freeing the memory when finished, but just quessing here.
When I delete the broken image all was fine again. I have had this on multiple occasions and is easily reproducable for me (just need to dump my current DB and start over, some images are always broken such as one for Red Hot Chili Peppers) so if you need me to provide logs or anything else debugging wise don't hesitate to ask.

I will test more but I did not have the problem on 1.0. I run 1.3 now but also latest svn so that might also make the difference. Will get back when I know some more.

Preliminary results of my testing show that latest svn seems to be the blame.
It has not happened yet with svn of the 31st of jan.

Totally agree! First let's have it stable and afterwards Cul8er could think about adding more features, I say.

Defect image issues are already noted, testing on a fix is underway.

Hello, I have unfortunately not been able to get the plugin to work at all. I have Mediaportal 1.0.2, the latest xfactor skin, and fanart plugin 1.3, and Windows 7 64-bit. I've placed a number of pictures in the Skin Fanart folders in the thumbs directory, but nothing is displayed (the only time a picture is displayed is when the XFactor menu points to a single image, like for the TV Guide). Also, when I go to the Manage Fan Art window for Music, it shows that I have 0 artists/tracks/etc. in my music database which is definitely not true. Would appreciate a little help to what I'm doing wrong, or what I can do to remedy this. Thanks.

A quick fix for you error is to goto the sub directory database in the mediaportal data directory (same as where the cache folder is). Make sure MP and MP configuration is closed. Delete the fanarthandler.db3 file. Make sure you have a fanarthandler.org in the database directory. Then start MP Configuration and goto the fanart handler and make the settings you like. Save and then start MP.

Please let me know how this works.

I will fix this in the next release. It is related to users having a very old version of the fanarthandler database and the upgrade script I use failes.

Hi. The plugin looks great, but I have ben unable to get it to work correctly yet.

I have the same symptoms as above:
- Music doesn't show up in the config screen. I definitely have music in my MP database.
- Random fanart doesn't appear. Neither does the default configured image.
- In the configuration file I noticed that the <defaultbackground> tag pointed at the XP location (C:\Documents and Settings\ etc). Changing this didn't fix anything however.
- I've tried various things, deleting the database etc. with not effect.

I've attached everything (database, config and logs). As you can see, it's finding the fanart correctly but there's some sort of problem with the database. I've added this to your GoogleCode problem list too.

My setup:
Windows 7 64bit
Mp 1.1 BETA
X-Factor r547
FanArt Handler 1.3 (I've previously used both 1.0 and an even older one with the same problems)

Also, is there anywhere I can get the code?

Your database is corrupted (and the org file too). First take the attached file, extract the fanarthandler.org and put it into your database directory, then try the steps below and let me know how it works.
