I'm enjoying my new HTPC, but I've certainly not gotten it all dialed in yet.

For example, I'm listening to a playlist right now, and I was fighting with the remote to figure out how to get out of the playlist view, so I could browse my music share again. I could only do it by navigating to the top bar and 'ok-ing' the back arrow. Not so convenient, so I'm assuming I'm missing something.

I've also found some odd control responses with divx avi files... I remember reading somewhere about how something needed patching with divx but I've not figured out what yet.

Anyone throw me a bone... or should I post this in the support section. I'm sure I'm just missing some basics.

My specs are listed.

Hi do you not have a back button on your remote or keyboard, that should get out of playlist view. Also I believe the divx thing is due to the divx program taking focus and therefore the remote not being able to operate MP. try installing xvid as doesn't seem to have this problem!

Thanks

did you try the Scythe Ninja Mini without fan? with 2 12 cm case fans and your 45W CPU it could go without I guess. I am planing to buy the Antec Fusion case with same cooling but passive (with X2 BE-2400). With Speedfan you can monitor your CPU-Temp.

kszabo,
I have installed the fan that came with the Ninja cooller.
However, I configured my BIOS that it should start spinning when CPU reaches 40 degrees (with a dead band of 5 degrees)
Temperature of CPU has never been over 28 degrees for now.
So the CPU fan is always OFF. In otherwords, it is passive cooled.
the 2 case fans do the work, with my MB CPU is placed exactly by the the 2 case fans.

I think I leave the CPU fan on the cooler, it is a nice safety feature, you never now what happens when it is summer.
Then the FAN can jump on, but it will start at low speed and will not be heared.

So passive colling is defenitly possible.
By the way the Ninja set come's with coolling pasta included.
So you do not need to buy this seperatly

Hi Ricky2k1

First of All I had to install all software that came with the card (Power cinema suite + PowerDVD + all drivers for XP)
Else you will get some strange error about "cannot create graph", after adding the card
You will see the card will work perfectly with Power cinema suite

Then I had to alter the file:
CaptureCardDefinitions.xml

Which can be found in:
C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal

I opened the CaptureCardDefinitions.xml with notepad and searched for the entry:
ASUS TV FM Card-7135
(I know the number is different then what your card is, but if you do some search in the management of you computer you will see that this is the driver that is used to control the card, after you have installed all software)

This whole entry I copied form <Caputrecard......
till </Capturecard>
and put it on the end of the .xml file, just above </Capturecards>

Then I changed the name so it applies to my card (I will add complete entry at bottom of this reply)
I also changed the rev number from F0 to D1

Then I saved the file and started the detection, in the MediaPortal configuration.
Add the card and you can use autotune to find station.

I have to admit that it was difficult to find out all info how to do all of this, took me about 3 evening's of work
to get it running.
Especialy this "Cannot Create Graph" error was difficult, but in the end It appeared that I had not installed all additional driver software, that came with the card;-)
Maybe there are people that have found a better solution, because I do not get the quality I have when using PowerCinema

Hope this helps you:
see below complete defenition, I updated and used.
Remember, I DO NOT HAVE A P-7131 DUAL CARD,, so I called it SINGLE, and my card is analogue.
There are alot of other My Cinema P-7131 cards, I do not know which one you have.

tell some about the IR receiver! Is there a cable in the case to connect it with the Motherboard? Or does it work through USB? Did you need driver for it? Which remote controller can be used with it (like MCE or Vista remote)?

    Thanx in advance.

Edit: may I answer my question myself :) I´ve found the manual of the case http://www.antec.com/pdf/manuals/Fusion_430_&_Fusion_Black_430_EN_manual.pdf
But personal experiences are still wellcome though.

As I understand there are 2 USB cables in the package: one for an external USB port and one for an USB header on the motherboard (Intel pin layout). You have to use one of them. Through this cable the Display and the IR receiver is controlled but not power supplied. You still have to plug one power cable of the integrated power supply unit into the display. The poswer supply does not go through USB-Port. And install the driver (one or two? for display and for IR?) Correct?

The power supply for display and Ir comes directly from the 430W PS. there is a seperate cable for, all provided.
Then there is a USB connection for Display and Ir, it comes with a driver CD when you buy a Antec case, but you can also download it from the Antec website.
    Antec.com

Then there are 2 usb connectors for the 2 front USB ports of the case.
I do not use the Ir reciever (yet), since I have a bluethooth keyboard.
I only use the display to show some information about system.

    Update 09 AUG 2008

    Hi all,

Finnaly I moved back to NL and was able to install my HTPC at it's designated position, at home.
See the three new pictures on top

I also reinstalled the PC, it is still in eperimental phase,
having some problems with my keyboard input and sometimes MP hangs.
Also full 1080p does not run smoothly, so I think I have to look around for a good video card,
    which supports Full HD

In october 2008 there is a Full HD (LCD) beamer planned, with a fixed screen.
