I always had 3 HD channels. Zapping to them was no problem. The first second of the HD channel was in slow motion but thats ok.
Now i have several new HD channels and this happens when i zap to them:
1. before tuning the screen is black (normal behaviour)
2. than about 1 or 2 seconds the previous channel plays in fastforward and distorted
3. now the new channel begins to play. (it plays flawless though)

When i zap to the 'old' HD channels this problem does not occur. So it has to be something with the new channels.
I have attachted my logs. What i tested was this:
1. Tune to ‘old’ HD Channel
2. zapped to new HD channel watched for a few seconds

3. and zapping again to new HD channel before closing MP

Also skipping back or forward first show distorted video before playing smooth.

    Hi joostzilla

I think this is just a codec issue. Things like this can easily happen with variations in encoding formats/parameters. Have you tried different codecs?

I am afraid you are right.
I did some earlier testing with different codecs but only with the MPC decoder. That worked terrible. Just now i tried the DivX H.264 decoder and that worked fine.
The Microsoft DTV-DVD video decoder i use was perfect untill now. I was hoping i could use that for everything. :(
What HD decoder do you recommend? (i dont want to install a codec pack)

thanx for the help. Much appreciated :D

    Hi again

I mostly use Cyberlink because I think the quality is good and I find that the FFDShow DXVA codec has problems when changing between channels with different resolutions (owlsroost has a patch). Plain FFDShow is also fine, although it uses more CPU of course. I also have the Arcsoft, Elecard, DivX and CoreAVC codecs installed, but I barely ever use them except for when testing. So to summarise: if you really hate codec packs and you don't own any other encoders then CoreAVC might be an option, otherwise trial and error with the least "evil" packs.

Here a new problem with the Divx decoder enabled: MP crashes after a minute or so.

Looks like the crash is inside DivXDecH264.ax - very difficult for me to help with such a problem. Best to just try yet another codec...

I take it the "Cyberlink" filters work then.

Yes, the powerdvd 11 codec does the job. In fact SAF6 also solved my problem with having stutters in .mkv files containing DTS audio streams in combination with subtitles. I guess the LAV audio decoder could have something to do with it also.

Now lets hope everything keeps working. :)
