is it gonna hurt you to try with the original card with 1 tuner and disable the second and try mediaportal again

Nah, but I need "kid-free" livingroom to be able to open up the "magic box".

I did this and I found out that there is more to this problem. First I tried removing the SmartWI like you wished for (!) and this solved the problem, so you are correct, the SmartWI is involved (running firmware 2.43 Beta 8 T0 by the by). I then tried moving the CAM from the new TV card to the old (the one not working with the SmartWI) and connected the SmartWI and now it worked fine. So it seems the CAM is involved. I have two Conax Cams, both version 4.00e, but one is HW version 1.0 and the other 1.1. The one that worked with the old tv card and SmartWI was 1.1. So in conclusion I then took the 1.0 Conax CAM and connected to the newer floppydtv and badabing, now that works aswell with the SmartWI. Suddenly I had two working tv cards again!

To sum it up, the new tv card with the old CAM and SmartWI = OK, the old tv card with the new CAM and SmartWI = OK. Any combination of the above mentioned with DVBviewer = OK. So in the end, the problem is with

Mediaportal and not anything else, but at least I found a solution for me that gives me two working tuners again.

Just as a final note, the old combination of CAMs and SmartWI worked a few weeks back, it broke sometime in the last month or so. It just took a little while till I understood what the problem was.

Thanks for your help (the last post about the CAM was very helpful to put me on the track!, thanks!).

Glad it help it.. BTW what is SmartWI??

    Thanks

With this wireless Multi Room Solution you can share one original smart card between all your receivers
The wireless master box will connect to the digital receivers by the wireless slave which will be inset in the receiver’s cam (embedded cam)
It will then work as the original card was inset direct in your receiver.
This solution is useful when you have more than 1 receiver in your home and will save you for paying additional extra monthly fee for extra card.

SmartWi Multi Room Solution come standard with 1 Wireless SmartWi master box, 3 Wireless SmartWi client card and a power adaptor for SmartWi master as a set.

You could try some different SW versions for the SmartWI aswell, seems to be big speed differences between the ones. Latest Beta is very quick, latest release is very slow .. ;)

I do have the latest release version from smartwi in use.. 2.41 ..

Will have a look also for the beta one.. and try that 2!
    update:
(forget it ... from website smartwi -> T=1 No beta at the moment )

But i think I found the problem .. it is also in the cam .. ;)

3.08 is far off (my cams).. if version 3.14 is available..
as far as I have researched 3.12 introduces new bugs .. with reported sound problems on discovery channel and a few more.. 3.14 seems the way to go .. so cant hurt to update them ..

But you cant update the cam without a laptop with pmcia... so now installing an old laptop with pmcia to update my cams and have another go at it :D

Hope it fixes the problem ..

I have a FloppyDTV-C, an Alphacrypt CAM 3.14 and a SmartWi v8 2.41 T1, and I see that after a while (maybe it is S3 sleep/wake-up related) at the TVServer (Manual timeshift/record) that all (non-FTA) channels are scrambled?!? Maybe this has also to do with the Alphacrypt/SmartWi combination? I can resolve this by removing the Alphacrypt CAM and inserting it back again, then all channels are decoded correctly again.

Next to this I cannot view any channels in the preview window (see TVServer errorlog)?

Can you please also try with a real smartcard and see if your problems disappear ? That would help a lot!

I tried with a real smartcard and I still had to remove my CAM once again to get my channels unscrambled. For my preview problem I reverted back to SVN build of 03/14/08 and now it seems to work even with SmartWi (I had multiple S3 sleep/wakeups and my DVB tuner is still showing TV channels  ). Even recording multiple streams from the same transportstream works
I still have to find out why my DVD-folders and MCE dvr-ms recordings are not playing , but my girlfriend is getting impatient/desperate  because I screwed up a few high priority recordings ('Desperate Housewives') with my VMC setup (the main reason why I have started paying around with MP/TV-Server)

After all, it seems that the original smartcard (@Home/Ziggo) performs pretty stable. I have re-inserted my SmartWi card and immediately the whole thing around "channel is scrambled" starts again. I really would like to use the SmartWi solution, so I can have all channels on my MP as well...
    Is there any progress somewhere?
    BTW, I have a FloppyDTV-C, an Alphacrypt CAM 3.14 and a SmartWi v8 2.41 T1

    Thanks in advance

    Hello Ron,

I have no problems whatsoever with it, but I must admit, my base smartwi is standing next to the computer with the 2 clients.. so the distance is only about 1 meter max .. maybe you can try that too ?

I also discovered that there is a distance/signal quality issue with SmartWi, I replaced my SmartWi base station away from my other PC/Monitor and now I don't have any lockups on my Samsung DCB-H360 decoder. I haven't noticed any improvements on MP system whatsoever. I still have a suspicion towards the Alphacrypt icw SmartWi as well. Anyway, I will try to put my SmartWi base next to my HTPC and see if this helps.

    Grtz Ron

I just found out that all my problems was related to the CAM. Just changed from the standard Conax 4.00e to the Technisat Conax CAM and all is now working. The SmartWI with the newest beta firmware is a great combination.

My Conax CAMs is destined for eBay very soon :)
