Hi Ray,
I'm going to take the risk of looking like a real idiot here and "fess up" ........... found that the plug connecting my PC to the TV and Stereo via splitter (to each device) was not plugged in correctly
..... therefore the fluctuating sound and the reason that I was also getting unbalanced sound. Man, the number of times at work I say to my staff when they have an issue .... have you checked connections!!!
I only found this out after taking the initative to reload the drivers from the ASUS installation disk (which has seemed to have fixed the intermittant no sound issue I also have along with not being able to select and save a type of sound i.e. Rock, Jazz etc) and then thinking what else could it be!!!
Simple when you get back to basics.
You never know, maybe someone else has exactly this issue, finds this forum and like me, did not think of the obvious
